Lam Research Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Internal Audit Intern to join our Internal Audit team for a three-month summer internship based in Tualatin, Oregon. This internship provides hands-on exposure to internal audit practices within a global technology company, with a strong emphasis on data analytics and the use of emerging AI-enabled tools to enhance audit efficiency, risk identification, and insights.

The intern will work closely with internal auditors and data-savvy professionals to support audit planning, execution, and reporting activities while gaining practical experience in applying analytics to real-world business and control environments.

What you'll do
  • Assist Internal Audit team members in executing operational, financial, and compliance audits.
  • Support the use of data analytics techniques to analyze large datasets, identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
  • Help develop, test, and document audit analytics and dashboards using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Explore and apply AI-enabled tools (e.g., automation, machine learning, or generative AI) to improve audit processes, testing, or documentation.
  • Participate in audit planning activities, including process walkthroughs, risk assessments, and control understanding.
  • Assist with audit workpaper documentation and preparation of audit findings under the guidance of audit professionals.
  • Collaborate with team members to continuously improve audit methodologies and analytical approaches.
Who we're looking for
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in internal audit, risk management, and controls.
  • Foundational knowledge of data analytics concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with or exposure to analytical tools such as Excel (advanced functions), Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, or similar.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn and experiment with AI and automation tools in a business or audit context.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
  • Prior internship, coursework, or project experience involving data analytics, audit, or business intelligence.
  • Familiarity with internal audit concepts, SOX, or risk and controls frameworks.
  • Exposure to AI tools such as generative AI, process automation, or scripting for data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
