Overview

This position serves as a classroom and laboratory instructor for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, responsible for planning and delivering curriculum-based instruction, assessing student learning outcomes, providing clinical oversight and mentorship, and maintaining accurate records in a safe learning environment.



Responsibilities

    Meets regularly with program officials to maintain current documentation of student's clinical progress.
  1. Interact with program students with a positive and professional attitude to resolve issues.
  2. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policy and all applicable laws.
  3. Participates in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain professional competency in the practice of diagnostic medical sonography.
  4. Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction; facilitate students' learning. Assess students' learning outcomes at the unit, course, and program levels.
  5. Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
  6. Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting, as a cooperative and professional team player.
  7. Student Support and Guidance. Support students as a mentor and role model in achieving their learning and career goals.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Health Care or related field.
  2. Two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
  3. Must have the appropriate credentials in the concentration(s) for which they evaluate student performance and document required lab competencies. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS - OB/GYN, AB, VT), Cardiocvascular Credentialing International (CCI -RVS), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT- S, VS).
  4. Experience in supervision, instruction, student guidance, and educational theories and techniques.
