Psychology, Professor - North Campus

Marginal Job Functions:

Overall responsibility for teaching classes as assigned. Teach (5) on-campus sections per term for the Fall and Spring sessions. These courses may include General Psychology, Lifespan Growth & Development, Social Psychology, Statistical Methods in Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, & Biological Psychology. Teach at times/locations or using delivery methods that meet student & departmental needs, which may include Dual Credit, Evening, Hybrid, Weekend, and Extension sections.

Responsibilities:

Teaching



  • Keeps up with developments in the field of study.
  • Demonstrates highstandards-academicand professional.
  • Evaluates student work constructively and provides timelyfeedback.
  • Teachesat times and locations that meet student needs.
  • Provides access to students through posted conference hours,electronic communications, and other appropriate methods.
  • Reviews,evaluates,and recommends student learningmaterials.
  • Develops and uses a syllabus and course informationmaterials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting withinstate,college, and departmental guidelines.


Professional Development



  • Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s)and teaching methodologies throughprofessional development activities.
  • Use effective teaching methods and materials that reflect thoughtful planning, assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with different backgrounds and learning styles, and engage students in learning.
  • Reviews,evaluates, reflects, and revises program curriculaand teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self-reflection.
  • Meets or exceeds professional standards, state-mandatedguidelines, requirements of business/industry, and higher education, asappropriate to the discipline(s).


Service



  • Actively participates in college meetings and/or committees,task forces, and councils.
  • Participates in college-related activities such asregistration, community education, recruitment of students, student retention,and faculty selection.
  • Participates in college activities for students/studentorganizations to aid in retention.
  • Participates in business and community activities thatfoster goodwill and promote the mission and values of the college.
  • Participates in activities required to maintain program andcollege accreditation standards.
  • Participates in setting departmental goals, in developingcollege budgets that support the goals, and in planning for achieving thosegoals.
  • Promotes and maintains departmental affiliation agreementsand other partnerships with other institutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities relative to teaching area.


Required Education:



  • Minimum of Master's degree and at least 18 hours of graduate level Psychology courses.


Required Experience:



  • At least 1 year college teaching experience.


Preferred:



  • Both high school & community college teaching.

Salary Grade: MAST

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
