Air Liquide is Hiring for a Supply Chain Intern in Newport, DE!

The Supply Chain department at ALAS manufacturing plant facilitates the flow of materials through data-driven inventory management and cross-functional coordination. Our team focuses on the following core functions:

  • Operational Liaison: Acting as the primary interface between Procurement and Manufacturing to clarify material specifications and fulfillment needs.

  • Inventory Control: Managing the end-to-end physical inventory and cycle count programs to ensure high levels of accuracy and reduce capital employed.

  • Lean Implementation: Optimizing shop floor access and material flow through Kanban setups, location management, and warehouse storage solutions.

  • Systems Management: Driving efficiency within Oracle ERP by maintaining item master data and streamlining manufacturing transaction processes.

  • Data Analytics: Analyzing material transaction trends and variances to implement root cause corrective actions and minimize supply chain risks.

Thissummer internship is designed for a Supply Chain student to gain hands-on experience in industrial inventory management and lean manufacturing. The intern will support the Supply Chain department in optimizing material flow, enhancing data accuracy within Oracle, and resolving storage constraints.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Location Management: Assist in the implementation of RFID/Scanning Location Management systems for membrane tracking to ensure easy material location across the entire plant.

  • Kanban and Oracle systems roll-out: Assist into the activation of ALERT Oracle module for work cells and re-align the Kanban for different plant areas, to improve inventory access on the shop floor, allowing operations to focus on production rather than material searching.

  • Cycle count Project: Actively contribute to the preparation and execution of the cycle counts process, including count team coordination, hardware planning (scanners/computers), and data entry review.

Required

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with Warehouse and Manufacturing teams.

  • Technical Skills: Strong computer and analytical skills; familiarity with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Safety: Demonstrates strong process and operational safety behavior at all times.

  • Detail Oriented: Highly organized with a focus on data accuracy and process integrity.

Preferred

  • Interest in Lean Six Sigma methodologies or Kanban systems.

  • Exposure to ERP systems (Oracle preferred).

  • Ability to use analytical thinking to solve complex storage and logistics problems.

The candidate must have valid unrestricted employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
