The Marketing Specialist plays a key support role in driving the success of Sherwin-Willliams' Applicator product portfolio, partnering closely with and supporting the Product Manager to help grow and strengthen brands including Purdy, Valspar, Sherwin-Williams, and Bestt-Liebco.

In this role, the Marketing Specialist will assist with the development and execution of innovation, new product development initiatives, and go-to market execution for strategic customers such as Paint Stores Group (PSG), Lowe's, and Menards. The role provides the opportunity to support the entire product lifecycle, from gathering and analyzing customer insights, evaluating opportunities, concept development, product launch execution, and post-launch evaluation, all while working a highly collaborative cross-functional environment.

The Marketing Specialist will act as a key team contributor, supporting planning, coordination, and communication across teams including R&D, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Brand and Customer Marketing, and Sales teams. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while helping ensure projects stay on track. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in Product Marketing while supporting meaningful innovation.

**This position will be required to work from the Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH**

  • Support day-to-day marketing activities for an assigned applicator category, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and business objectives.

  • Assist the Product Manager in the execution of innovation and new product development projects, from concept through launch, through an established Stage Gate process.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Brand & Customer Marketing, and Sales to support project milestones and timelines.

  • Help develop and maintain marketing tools and assets such as presentations, product catalogs, selling materials, labels, digital content, etc.

  • Support customer-specific initiatives and programs for strategic partners including PSG, Lowe's, Menards, and others.

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for growth.

  • Support internal communication and alignment related to product and project updates, timelines, and priorities.

  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis to assess sales performance, trends, and success of new product launches.

  1. EDUCATION:

  1. Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  1. Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field

  1. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Required:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in marketing or a related function (internship or co-op experience considered).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively make presentations in front of groups.

  • Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

  • Experience supporting product lifecycle activities such as research, product development, or launch execution.

  • Experience gathering and interpreting customer insights or market data to support recommendations or decisions.

  1. Preferred:

  • Experience working in a consumer goods, manufacturing, coatings, or tools/applicator products industry.

  • Prior exposure to new product development processes (e.g. stage-gate, concept development, testing, commercialization).

  • Experience supporting go-to-market plans for retail or channel partners (e.g., Lowe's, Menards, or specialty retail groups).

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

    • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with high attention to detail

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)

    • Ability to synthesize customer insights, market research, and data into actionable recommendations

Preferred

    • Experience with marketing analytics tools, dashboards, or reporting platforms

    • Knowledge of product lifecycle frameworks and innovation processes

    • Ability to create or contribute to product briefs, marketing materials, or launch plans

    • Familiarity with retail merchandising, planogram processes, or in-store execution practices
