Position Summary

This is a combined practical and strategic position that involves establishing technical strategy, defining enterprise architectures and leading solution implementations from a technology perspective. The position provides technical guidance and training to the implementation teams, serves as technology and best practices evangelist, and ensures that implementations follow the finest of implementation standards and principles. This position advises technical management and business areas on key architectural decisions regarding platforms and supporting technologies. This position produces technical architectures (documented by deliverables) that are scalable, maintainable, dependable, secure, and meet performance requirements. This position represents the Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) organization across CPS Energy and works across the company to deliver technical solutions, including providing continuity on major solution decisions, communicating technology solution value across all levels of the company, and ensuring solutions are implemented according to the defined solution architecture and technical standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Create the future state enterprise architecture for CPS Energy, including deliverable documentation and consideration for non-functional requirements.
  • Create, evangelize, and gain organizational acceptance of IT governance model and procedures within CPS Energy.
  • Lead and develop the Enterprise Architecture practice at CPS Energy, including technical/business/strategy alignment, communication of IT value and IT process/methodology maturity.
  • Perform technical feasibility assessments, including, but not limited to: Proof of concept, technology evaluations, RFPs, project estimations, architecture standards assessments, etc.
  • Operate in a leadership role across multiple projects concurrently and assume the responsibility for the appropriate technical and architecture project roles. On occasion, may have to fill in for IT lead, project management or implementation management roles.
  • Provide guidance and technical leadership / evangelism in definition of standards and selection of development and operational management tools, including infrastructure and programming standards, and architecture standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and collaborate with business users and development teams to assist with the development and documentation of improved business process flows.
  • Lead teams addressing Strategic Key Initiatives to better align IT with the CPS Energy Business Plan.
  • Function as Business Owner for applications and tools used to document relationship and alignment between IT Capabilities, Business Processes, and CPS Energy Strategies and Business Requirements.
  • Evangelize value of IT and Business Architecture alignment across the Organization.
  • Develop architectural leadership skills and expertise through independent research, training and/or conferences.
  • Supervisory duties may be expected for senior-level personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills essential and ability to handle competing priorities.
Experience in IT, with experience in system design.
Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information modeling methods.
Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and statistical programming languages, and database query language (SQL and NO SQL based).
Familiarity with enterprise level business intelligence and data warehousing platforms.
Understanding of basic statistics, machine learning algorithms, multivariate calculus and linear algebra.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a data analyst or data scientist is highly desirable.
  • In-depth experience designing and implementing enterprise information solutions.
  • Experience with data visualization methods and design principles.
  • Enterprise or Application Architecture certification preferred (Open Group, CM-ISRI, ESAI, IEAD, ITAC, TOGAF, etc....)
  • Process or Project management certification such as PMI PMP certification, ITIL or Six Sigma.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related study, or equivalent project-related technical experience.
Required Certifications
Working Environment
Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
