Your Role

Gensler New York isseekinga creative,motivatedand collaborative individual to joinouroffice astheNewYorkPublicRelationsSpecialist.Workingin one of the firm's largest and most dynamic offices, you will be an integral part of the New York PR&Communications team, helping communicate our firm's unique approach and how it differentiates us from our competition.A provenstoryteller,the ideal candidatehas a passion for design and views communications as a people-centered activity.

Reporting directly to theNE/NYPRDirector,you will simultaneously manage multiple deliverables with strategic thinking-underscored by asolidunderstanding of the local designandreal estatemarkets, and of the practice area overall.You willberesponsible formedia outreachandidentifyingengaging stories to a wide range ofreporters;speakingengagements;thoughtleadership;andspecial projects. Youwillalsocollaborate closely with the NE Communications & Content Manager on awards programs and social media.

Gensler is organized along four practice areas - Workplace, Hospitality, Cities, and Healthcare - and theNY PR Specialist willbe responsible forexecutingpractice area-specificexternal communications in coordination with other PR Specialistsin the New York office and across the firm. The PR Specialistwill report to theNE/NY PR Directorwhilealso workingwith theNE Communications & Content Manager,officeleaders, and practice area leaders toidentifystories, secure opportunities,anddevelop proactive campaigns across various platforms in support of strategicobjectives.This role will also collaborate closely with the regional and global PR network, and New York marketing colleagues.

What You Will Do

Public Relations

  • WorkwiththeNE/NY PRDirectortoidentifystory angles andappropriate journalists/publicationstoengagefor opportunities specific to practice area focus.

  • CreateandupdatetargetedPR Plansfor projects and practice areas

  • Have a pulse on current and upcoming projects and initiatives throughout the office that best support our practice area POVs, PR strategies, and client relationships

  • Work with project design teams and clients to writepress materials (design backgrounders, pressreleases, pitches,fact sheets, messaging)

  • Maintain media lists

  • Maintain editorial calendars

  • Work withNYoffice leadership on development of blog postsand bylines

  • Plan and executeoffice events, mediaeventsor trade events

  • Assistwith photo shoots

  • Vet inbound media requests

  • Track and measure PR hits;organize press clippings

  • AssistNE/NY PRDirectorwith special projects,as needed

  • MaintainNYSpeaking Engagement calendar and manageinboundspeaking opportunities,pitchesand call-for-speakerdeadlines

  • Work withGensler NY spokespeopletodevelop presentation content andtalking points, speakerpreparationandbriefing materials

  • Supportsocial media content development forNY Instagram channeland Firmwide channels, in coordination with global PR and social leaders

Awards

  • Collaboratewiththe NE Communications & Content Managerto prepare andsubmitawardscontentfor projects and individuals within specific practice area of focus

  • Coordination ofclient awards permissions and approvals, where relevant

  • Ability to proactivelysupportmultiple submission deadlines at once

Your Qualifications

  • Attitude: Proactive,energetic, can-doattitude and desire to work in a results-oriented environment. Desire and ability to manage multiple relationships and deadlines at the same time. Team player. Motivated,tenacious, and resourceful

  • Presentation: polished professionalism;comfortable and confidentengaging senior leadership, healthcare clients, and industry stakeholders

  • Communication: strong writing, editing,grammarand interpersonal skills.Ability to craft, prepare, and execute writing assignments (pitches, projectnarratives, blog posts, bylines)under deadlines

  • Organizational: ability toself-manage projects around expected delivery dates

  • Teamwork: workscohesively as a member of abroadercommunications team, pitches in tohelpothers, forward-thinkinggo-getter; ability to adapt in dynamic settings

  • Client/customer service: understanding of public relations as a service to theregion

  • Administrative: ongoing support of reporting materials on behalf of the regional PR team

  • Experience: At least 4-8 years of public relations experience; background in architecture, design and journalism is very desirable; deep media relationships and experience in specific practice areas is also preferred

  • Software:Microsoft Office, InDesign, Cision

**The base salary range will be estimated between $72,500- $85,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
