Seasonal Lead Grounds Maintenance Worker - Fairchild AFB

Location: Airway Heights, Washington - Fairchild AFB

Type: Non-Exempt, Temporary

Work Schedule: Full-Time/ Day Shift/ (Mon - Fri) Anticipated start date: March 30, 2026.

Compensation: $22.59 - $22.59/hour + an additional $5.09/hour Health and Welfare Benefit (cash payout with qualifying health insurance)

Tessera is seeking a hardworking and motivated Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker with a positive/helpful attitude. This is a temporary position and is expected to run up to but no longer than November 30th, 2026.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, and control of weeds and brush.

  • Collect and remove all rubbish, debris, and trash, including rocks, paper, pinecones, limbs, and other portable objects, from maintenance areas, shrubs, hedges, fences, and along foundation walls

  • Conduct basic maintenance and inspections of grounds equipment.

  • Operate tractors, mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and brush cutters safely and efficiently.

  • Read, interpret, and follow contract requirements, site maps, and work plans.

  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities throughout the workday.

  • Schedule, supervise, and assist with weekly equipment maintenance, reporting any damage or issues to the Supervisor or Site Mechanic.

  • Address and mentor employee concerns in a respectful and constructive manner.

  • Monitor employee performance to ensure efficient use of time, proper task completion, and understanding of assigned duties.

  • Record daily personnel attendance and promptly report any absences or tardiness to the Site Manager.

  • Observe employee conduct and report any issues or concerns to the Site Manager.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

  • Plan and post the weekly crew schedule in advance.

  • Submit accurate weekly reports to the Quality Control (QC) department.

  • Order and pick up parts and supplies needed for grounds equipment.

  • All Other Duties as Assigned*

Qualifications:

  • Experience performing and leading grounds maintenance work, including mowing, trimming, debris removal, and weed and brush control.

  • Ability to safely operate and perform basic maintenance on grounds equipment, such as tractors, mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, and brush cutters.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to supervise employees, provide guidance, monitor performance, and report issues professionally.

  • Organized and dependable, with the ability to follow work plans and site maps, manage schedules and attendance, order supplies, and complete required reports accurately.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
