Type: Non-Exempt, Regular

Work Schedule: Full-Time/ Day Shift/ (Mon - Fri) Anticipated start date: May 4th, 2026.

Compensation: $24.13 - $24.13/hour + an additional $5.09/hour Health and Welfare Benefit (cash payout with qualifying health insurance)

Tessera is seeking a hardworking and motivated Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker with a positive/helpful attitude. This is a temporary position and is expected to run up to but no longer than November 30th, 2026.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Equipment Operations: Operate gasoline- or diesel-powered tractors, gang mowers, chain saws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, and similar equipment. Use equipment to move materials, tow trailers, pull out embedded objects, load heavy materials, and perform trimming, pruning, and grounds-cleaning tasks.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Attach and adjust implements such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (including those over 2,000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows. Perform basic maintenance including lubrication and minor repairs (tightening bolts, replacing washers, cotter pins, screws, etc.).
  • Mowing: Mow, trim, edge, and maintain turf areas using small and large equipment (including machinery over 2,000 lbs.). Remove grass clippings, leaves, trash, and debris from lawns and paved surfaces. Mulch, weed, aerate, dethatch, and edge around flower beds, sidewalks, roads, and other landscaped borders.
  • Landscaping: Weed and cultivate landscape beds; apply mulch; plant grass, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Prune and trim shrubs and trees; remove vegetation from pavement cracks. Support irrigation tasks, erosion control, and general cleanup of turf and landscaped areas. Water grass, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds as needed to maintain healthy grounds.
  • Repairs: Assist with minor repairs to roads, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment. Perform basic cleaning of comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots (sweeping, mopping, washing, etc.).
  • Wear required PPE daily, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and Tessera uniform.
  • Perform all duties of a Grounds Maintenance Worker as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism in both appearance and conduct.
  • Work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned*

Qualifications:

  • Experience operating and maintaining heavy and light equipment, including tractors, mowers, and hand-held power tools, with the ability to safely attach and adjust implements.
  • Working knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscaping practices, such as mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, and general site upkeep.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs and assist with simple facility or grounds repairs as needed.
  • Strong safety awareness and work ethic, including consistent use of PPE, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
