The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Technician, Facilities Engineering and Maintenance. The Technician, Facilities Engineering and Maintenance will be responsible to schedule, perform, and oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of facilities equipment & overall site needs. This position manages contractors and services associated with scheduled maintenance as well as conducting emergency repairs and replacing equipment and components. It is also required to provide on - call support after hours. Ownership of assignments directed at improving total operating efficiency, minimizing equipment downtime and improving internal administrative processes is also required. This position requires documentation support to ensure that documents such as validations, standard operating procedures and preventive maintenance tasks are current and accurate for the assigned equipment and processes. This position will coordinate and oversee outside maintenance contractors.

This position is in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Responsibilities
  • Performs routine facilities equipment & site inspections, utilizing maintenance software system.

  • Coordinating efforts with outside vendors and contract service providers to accomplish objectives with preventative maintenance program.

  • Supports Facilities Work Requests and following up on request status, providing internal customers with

  • Responds to and documents internal alarms from the "Process Alarm Monitoring System".

  • Managing system configuration and maintenance to support record keeping compliance.

  • Supporting documentation and administrative requirements.

  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience with hand and power tools and their associated safety procedures.

  • Experience conducting or supervising routine building/grounds maintenance.

  • Experience with light drywall repairs and painting.

  • Experience with light plumbing repairs and general plumbing maintenance.

  • Understanding and application of safety procedures.

  • Use of communication, cooperation and interpersonal skills.

  • Documentation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.

  • Basic computer skills include file management, MS Word, and preventative maintenance software.

  • Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.

Preferred:

  • Technical Degree or equivalent experience in related field.

  • Universal certified in refrigerant handling.

  • HVAC/Refrigeration trade schools or course certifications.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with all electrical applications up to 480 volts.

  • Experience working in GMP high paced warehouse environment facility.

Internal: Manufacturing, Product Support, Formulations, Engineering, Material Management, Quality Labs, Quality Engineering.

External: Suppliers.

The Work Environment
  • The work environment characteristics are representative of an office and warehouse environment.

  • Up to 75% of time at desk, standing or sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

  • This position will require technicians to work within environment reaching temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius to -28 degrees Celsius as needed to support projects and routine maintenance services.

  • This position will be required to utilize building ladder access systems to inspect and support roof top equipment maintenance throughout the different seasons.

  • Temperature: Extreme heat & humidity during summer months or cold conditions during the winter months.

  • Location: Inside & outside.

  • Weather: Wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions

  • Exposures: Heavy fork lift activity

  • Workspace: Traditional workspace.

  • Other factors: On-Call responsibilities & frequent overtime.

The Physical Demands
  • Must be able to walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crawl around and on top equipment, and above ceiling space, for periods of up to 15 minutes.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from the ground to 4 feet on occasion.

  • Moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, pulling, moving, (furniture, equipment, machinery).

  • Heavy lifting of equipment exceeding 50 lbs. with assistance from others and mechanical lifting equipment.

  • Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have adequate vision correctable by regular corrective lenses for color coded electrical wiring.

  • Walking and conducting physical activities associated with completing equipment repair/replacement.
