Position Summary:

The National Sales Director (NSD) will be responsible for leading and inspiring the sales team to meet and exceed all sales goals and financial targets. This includes developing highly effective sales strategies and delivering on critical sales execution metrics that consistently drive success.

This individual will collaborate closely with the VP of Sales & Marketing to align plans, target opportunities, and messaging. Will also work closely with cross-functional team (Business Analytics, Strategic Partnerships and Advocacy, Hub Operations, Field Reimbursement, Medical Affairs, and Market Access) stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution with annual brand planning, product messaging, and Managed Care contracting pull-through opportunities. They will also work closely with Training, Human Resources, and Compliance to help design programs that elevate the field leadership and selling competencies of our sales organization. The successful candidate will possess outstanding communication skills that provide clarity on field expectations and direction that reinforces our culture of accountability. Finally, this individual will be responsible for key customer and healthcare professional interactions across the nation to reinforce our priority on patient and customer focus.


Principal Responsibilities:


  • Lead and inspire a sales team to consistently meet or exceed year-over year sales targets by driving successful field execution against key metrics
  • Create and communicate a clear and motivational Sales team vision consistent with our overall Commercial and Corporate strategy
  • Outstanding leadership skills that create and reinforce a culture of high performance, reward and recognition, individual development, transparency, and accountability
  • Lead the sales strategic planning process as it relates to the overall Commercial strategy and Brand Planning process that reinforces a customer and patient-centered approach
  • Partner with Training and Human Resources to establish a high-performing sales team with outstanding field leaders who are focused on continued development of our employees to reach their full potential
  • Partner closely with Business Analytics to design and create motivational Incentive Compensation plans that reward high performance and drive desired behaviors. In addition, partner with Business Analytics to create sales data reports, review territory alignment changes, create call plans and customer targeting, assess the company car program, and other operational initiatives that impact the sales organization
  • Proactively identifies and leads key customer relationships with physicians, healthcare professionals, health systems, or large physician group partnership opportunities
  • Consistently reviews the performance of existing Sales representatives and new hires to identify recruiting elevation opportunities that accelerate time to sales impact
  • Partners with Human Resources to assess talent including position calibration, management development opportunities, and succession planning for career growth
  • Responsible for strategic planning, priorities, and focus of the National and Regional Sales meetings
  • Serve as the Sales lead for any potential future partnerships
  • Lead our sales team in an ethical manner consistent with all industry and healthcare laws and policies


Education and Experience Qualifications:


  • BA/BS with minimum of 15 years of related commercial/pharmaceutical sales and marketing experience, MS/MBA with 12 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and related experience
  • 5+ Years of Sales Director experience in the Pharmaceutical industry with an excellent track record of performance success relative to the nation
  • 3+ years of District Management experience in pharmaceutical sales
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical market landscape, including regulatory considerations, market access, and reimbursement dynamics.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills, with the ability to manage budgets and analyze marketing performance metrics.
  • Results-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a clear Sales team vision that is embraced to create an engaged and high performing team
  • Can think both strategically to lead the team and tactically to drive execution success
  • Demonstrated history of developing strong sales leaders who have advanced to positions of additional responsibility within the organization
  • Cross functional experience in different Departments
  • Strong ability to navigate the organization to champion initiatives
  • Builds strong collaborative relationships with Marketing, Market Access, Operations, Medical Affairs, Human Resources, Compliance, and Finance to create a foundation for success within the sales & marketing organization
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and ability to create actionable business insights from multiple data points

Pay Range: $224,000 - $336,000 per hour
