Overview

This position is a Fuel Distribution System Operator who receives, stores, transfers, and issues fuel through pipelines at main line or terminal stations, receives fuel by fuel by tank truck, connects lines, grounding wires, and loading and offloading arms or hoses to pipelines; and visually inspects samples of fuel, and checks gravity and flashpoint. This operator gauges tanks for water, temperature, and fuel levels, checks pumping systems for correct operating pressure or unusual noises, performs preventive maintenance and repairs on terminal systems, performs general preventive maintenance on fuel tanks to include washing and paint as needed, performs general housekeeping and grounds maintenance for terminal, pipeline, and areas.


Responsibilities

  • Receives, stores, transfers, and issues fuel through pipelines at terminal facilities.
  • Takes fuel samples in accordance with prescribed procedures.
  • Connects lines and grounding wires to tank trucks.
  • Visually inspects samples of fuel.
  • Gauges tanks for water,temperature,and fuel levels.
  • Checks pumping systems for correct operating pressure or unusual noises.
  • Conductsinventory,supports quality surveillance, and prepares and validates inventory & accounting documentation using BSM-E computer software and hardware.
  • Aligns tanks, valves, and manifolds for receipt, issue, and intra-farm transfers.
  • Assists with preventive maintenance and repairs on terminal systems.
  • Inventory and accounting functions.
  • Performs general housekeeping and grounds maintenance for assigned areas.
  • Transfers fuel products via fuel pods to variousinternal facilities.

Qualifications

  • Prior experiencein operating fuel distribution systems a plus.
  • Qualified toreceive, handle,andissuepetroleum products, to includerecyclable jet fuel, andcomplete the accounting and administrative documentation related thereto.
  • Havepracticalexperience in all facets offuel distribution systems to include pipeline systems, storage tanks, pumps, valves, fuel filters, truck fill stands, pantographs, and recyclable storage and disposalcomponents.
  • Beableto convert gauge and temperaturereadings to quantities of products and be able to perform basic quality assurance functions.
  • Beabletocorrelate pressures, temperatures, and quantities as readfrom various gauges and meters normally found at a fuel facility.
  • Haveabasic understanding of writtendescription and instructions pertaining to facility operations, be able to implementcyclic maintenance programs and safety programsrelatingto all aspects of facility operation, and have demonstrated expertise in spill cleanup procedures, prevention and controlmeasures, related equipment operations, and maintenance.
  • Haveexperiencein and be capable of various types of petroleum sampling of storage tanks, trucks, and fill stands.
