Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing daily operations of assigned vessel fleet to ensure compliance with Company policy and procedures, Regulatory and Classification Society rules, as directed. Maintain communications with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contract compliance and service excellence across service lines.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Ensure that all Marine shipboard operations are carried out in accordance with Oceaneering Safety Management System, Marine Operations Manual, Environmental and safety policies.
  • Ensure all Marine assets comply with International, Classification Society and Flag State regulation.
  • Prepare and review of ship / shore contingency plans covering emergency situations and participate as member of the shore base
  • Emergency response team.
  • Participate in SMS review meetings.
  • Investigate accidents and review reports regarding safety and insurance.
  • Handle and/or assist in the close out of non-conformities covering ship and shore-based operations.
  • Perform Marine Audits and inspections, follow up on any open deficiencies and tracks to closer.
  • Maintain the ASOG and AMOG Guidelines Documents and approves any clients required changes and issues updated guidelines to vessel.
  • Attend vessels for DP Trials and track any outstanding items to close.
  • Attend management meetings as necessary to update senior management on performance against objectives.
  • Advise on vessel Flagg and Class Inspections coming due.
  • Attend vessels during OVID, CMID, and Client Inspections and on hire surveys.
  • Assist Port Engineers with surveying vessels, generating work lists, notating deficiencies to codes and regulations, and assisting in the preparation of shipyard maintenance specifications and repair contracts.
  • Assist with acceptance of work scopes in accordance with detailed specifications and tolerances to ensure no rework and COPQ.
  • Evaluating vessel operational quality matters, researching solutions and new construction/modification designs, and developing recommendations to the Sr. Marine Manager
  • Develop budgets and manage expenses for vessel operations, including refit and dry dock periods.
  • Manage vessel crew in coordination with Personnel to ensure crew changes and movements are efficient to achieve Service Excellence.
  • Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient vessel operations
  • Monitor vessel performance and implement improvements as needed
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders regarding vessel operations and performance
  • Collaborate with supporting internal teams (Technical, Regulatory & Compliance, Personnel, Business Coordinators) to ensure seamless planning and operations of vessels through maintenance periods, vessel mobilizations and customer projects.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Marine Operations Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Three (3) to seven (7) years related experience in Marine operations, Degree in Marine Operations or other similar Project Management discipline to be substitute for portion of active operational experience.
  • Prior experience in specification development, selecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining marine equipment on offshore vessels.
  • Experience in Marine Assurance is essential and also in the design construction and/or operation of Dynamically Positioned and conventional vessels.
  • Familiar with Reliability Centered Maintenance practices.
  • Articulate and a good communicator, be able to compile professional, persuasive documents and reports as well as write relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to independently manage problems and tasks. Decisions will be made within generally broad parameters. and a high level of initiative is required, taking into account all factors and not just the technical ones.
  • Good knowledge of classification society (ABS, DNV, etc.), statutory, and industry standard compliance.
  • Self-motivated and require little direction.
  • Strong integrity and values are essential.
  • Vessel experience in the Gulf of Mexico within the oil and gas industry is required.
  • Valid TWIC card.
  • Familiarity with ship operations and customs guidelines.
  • Good understanding of the import & export function and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple vessels and crews simultaneously

PREFERRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to Secure DOD Secret Level Clearance or Higher.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Considerable knowledge of shipbuilding trades and Marine Classification Society codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of appropriate steps to analytical problem solving.
  • Skill in the use of testing instruments such as calipers, micrometers, hygrometers, manometers, tachometers, and pressure measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret shipyard maintenance specifications, repair contracts, and blueprints.
  • Ability to research codes, regulations, ship modifications, and new techniques in ship operations.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, manuals and procedures to develop guidelines for work packages.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
  • Treats others fairly and with respect.
  • Ability to establish and maintain project priorities.
  • Seeks out new learning experiences.
