Overview

Coordinates all consultations for the Outpatient Infusion Center for patients. Serves as a liaison between referring physician offices, patients and staff to ensure appointments are scheduled and all required information for patient intake is received in a thorough and timely manner. Works directly with the attending physicians, advanced practice providers and nursing staff throughout the patient intake process. Utilizes a variety of information systems to schedule patients and process related patient record information; performs a variety of associated general clerical functions. Demonstrates outstanding customer service and the Key Behaviors, outlined in the Hospital's Core Success Factors in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Patient Coordination: Following established protocols, coordinates the scheduling of all patient Infusions based on the individual needs of patients as requested by referring physician..
  • 2. Schedules patients from a variety of sources and maintains schedules. Also includes but not limited to MD Scheduling changes, schedule set up and validation. Scheduling may take multiple calls and conversation with Physicians, clinical staff and patients to assure optimal use of schedule, physician productivity and patient satisfaction.
  • 3. Gathers documentation required; Ensures the timely and complete compilation of all patients medical record information, results from various screening and diagnostic tests and exams (e.g., pathology, radiology) surgical reports, etc.
  • 4. Performs site and telephone reception and serves as a patient liaison in the clinic with a focus on efficient and timely patient throughput, effective communication with focus on the patient experience
  • 5. Serves as patient liaison between visits and infusion/procedural suite.
  • 6. Prepares all related forms, patient card and ID bracelet and advises patient of all preparations needed in testing.
  • 7. General Clerical Support: Performs general clerical functions to ensure accurate, prompt and effective scheduling.
  • 8. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Knowledge of medical terminology required. Associate's degree or training/certification in clinical setting preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting, preferably in an outpatient setting, required. Experience with telephone reception and scheduling preferred. Working knowledge of Epic preferred

SPECIAL SKILLS

Working knowledge of medical terminology. Working knowledge of the patient scheduling process, excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to understand and independently follow established protocols regarding triage of patient schedules. Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving tactics required.
