THE ROLE

As a UX Designer, you'll create intuitive digital experiences for diverse user groups including DIY homeowners, professional contractors, and retail associates. You'll work embedded within agile product teams to research, design, prototype, and ship features across web, mobile, and in-store platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

User Research & Insights



  • Conduct user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing
  • Design and analyze surveys and quantitative research
  • Synthesize findings into personas, journey maps, and actionable recommendations
  • Build research artifacts that inform product strategy


Design & Prototyping



  • Translate user needs and business requirements into wireframes and user flows
  • Create low and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma and other design tools
  • Design responsive experiences across web, iOS, and Android platforms
  • Develop visual designs that balance usability with brand expression
  • Contribute to and leverage design system components


Collaboration



  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders throughout the design process
  • Present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams
  • Facilitate design workshops and co-creation sessions
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and sprint planning


Documentation & Delivery



  • Create comprehensive design specifications for engineering teams
  • Document design decisions and maintain design libraries
  • Report on design process and outcomes to leadership


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Must-Haves:

  • 3-5+ years professional UX design experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process from research through delivery
  • Expertise in user research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Strong interaction design skills: wireframing, prototyping, information architecture
  • Visual design proficiency: typography, layout, hierarchy, color theory
  • Figma expertise (primary tool); experience with Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience working within agile development teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Portfolio of shipped products with measurable user impact


Nice-to-Haves:

  • Retail or e-commerce design experience
  • B2B/enterprise software design background
  • Omnichannel experience (blending physical and digital touchpoints)
  • Accessibility expertise (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance)
  • Design systems contribution or governance experience
  • Front-end development knowledge (HTML/CSS)
  • Conversational design or AI interface experience
  • Mobile-first design for iOS/Android native applications
  • Familiarity with home improvement, construction, or trade industries
