Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Skills & Abilities:
Professional: The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment. The ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals. Exercise good judgment and comfortable taking initiative with projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment: Proficient with a variety of hand and power tools, construction equipment, janitorial equipment, including but not limited to industrial vacuum, maintenance equipment, weed eater, power washer, broom, mop and bucket, painting equipment, water hoses, telephone, and computer for timesheet. As with any position with The Salvation Army, it is impossible to predict the many requests and assignments that may be made on this position. Flexibility and a cooperative spirit are crucial characteristics of the individual who holds this important position. Physical Requirements:
Working Conditions: Frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated. Work with minimum supervision and work involves a high degree of independence. May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests. Various scheduled work in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Will be exposed to a range of temperatures inside and outside of the building, heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, humidity. May walk or stand on varied surfaces. Miscellaneous: Will require a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically prevent employment. The circumstances involved in the conviction(s) will be considered. High School or Equivalent (required)
Experience
Requires at least 6 months of basic experience in general building maintenance systems in a multi-use facility. (required)
Experience with aquatics and fitness equipment strongly preferred. Prefer some basic training in fields such as building construction, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. (preferred) Licenses & Certifications
Driver's License (required)
