Role Overview:

This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.

This position is responsible to safely operate heavy rolling machine to compact earth, subgrade or bituminous surface to grade specifications per contract. Will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members.

The typical schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with one to two Saturdays per month - 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly
2. Safely and properly perform maintenance on
3. Safely and properly operate roller
4. Identify appropriate rolling pattern and drives machine in successive overlapping passes over surface to be compacted to prepare quality surface.
5. Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges are not formed by excessive
6. Assist laborer or roller operator with dumping trucks and keeping load counts
7. Help clean curb and gutter areas
8. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
9. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
10. Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation
11. Assist in loading and unloading equipment for transport, including load
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

As a successful Roller Operator you will have:

1. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
2. 2+ years equipment operation and maintenance (Roller) preferred.
3. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
