Job Summary: |
The Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (HTC) operates a specialty pharmacy limited to serving the HTC patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, primarily providing hemophilia factor products and related medications throughout a multi-state area. The Senior Clinical pharmacist is a member of the HTC's multidisciplinary team, and has direct patient interaction regarding compliance monitoring, drug histories, and product education. The pharmacist manages drug distribution and record keeping for the center's investigational drug studies and clinical trials. The pharmacist provides drug information and education for the staff. The pharmacist provides daily dispensing and distribution functions and oversees pharmacy technicians, Interns, and other support staff. The Senior Clinical Pharmacist provides drug information and education for the HTC staff. This position will oversee the Pharmacy Patient Management Program and will be the Senior Clinical member of the HTC pharmacy Quality Management Committee, they will oversee any clinical discussions and decisions, clinical QI projects, and will provide overall clinical oversight for QMC. Key Responsibilities:
Provides drug information and education for the HTC staff. They will be a member of the HTC pharmacy Quality Management Committee. Counsel patients on medications, routinely monitor patients for changes in diagnosis, medications, allergies, adherence, bleed frequency. Develop patient care plans and conduct periodic reassessments. They will oversee and participate in any clinical discussions and decisions. Clinical QI projects. Share on Call 24/7 pager responsibility (33%) with other HTC Pharmacists, for bleeding disorders patients of the HTC Pharmacy.

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a PharmD degree. Licensed pharmacist (current and unrestricted) in the State of Colorado or able to obtain licensure. Five (5) years of experience in pharmacy or completion for PGY1 Residency. Direct patient counseling experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in university setting. Three (3) years of experience in specialty pharmacy practice. Experience in working with pharmacy students, interns, and residents. Experience with specialty pharmacy accreditation standards. Experience in working with institutional electronic medical records (EMR). Experience in research protocols and investigational study management. Experience in a multidisciplinary health care team setting.
Conditions of Employment:
Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test. Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check. Primary Source Verification - DORA, Colorado State Board of Pharmacy. Licensed pharmacist (current and unrestricted) in states in which the Pharmacy is registered, as required by that state. Will be required to obtain other state licenses by reciprocity as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Outstanding customer service skills. Outstanding communication skills appropriate for working with chronically ill patients and families requiring specialty pharmacy services. Ability to function cohesively and respectfully within a multidisciplinary team. Clinical judgment skills in a very specialized area of pharmacy practice based on understanding the disease states of patients served and study requirements and best clinical practice. The majority of pharmaceutical interventions in hemophilia care require individual clinical and operational judgments. Problem solving abilities with the ability to evaluate each situation differently to arrive at the best solution after considering all alternatives. Possess a high level of computer skills as all research and clinical operations functions are managed through multiple databases and other information technology software. Individual must possess a high degree of personal organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting transactions into EMR. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and pharmacy patient care management systems.

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $105,000 - $120,000 + $10,400 for on-call duties. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
