Job Title:Quality Specialist

Location: Amelia, LA

Position Overview:

A Quality Specialist inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications, codes, drawings, and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

* Examines materials or products for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.

* Interface between production, engineering, regulatory and customer for scheduling and documenting tests and inspections.

* Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.

* Verifies specified dimensions of product or material, using inspection equipment.

* Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.

* Test products for workmanship induced defects, such as leaks and internal cracks using air or water pressure.

* Test mechanisms for clearance and freedom of movement.

* Provide oversight (as required) during system commissioning by production or equipment manufacturers.

* Assists the Testing and Trials department personnel with systems testing and sea trials.

* Performs other duties as specified by the Program Manager or Post Delivery Warranty Program Manager.

* Develops inspection plans for new construction.

Qualifications:

* Five (5) years of manufacturing, shipyard, or quality (testing and inspecting) experience.

* Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: structural fitting/welding, pipe fitting/welding, electrical/electronic systems, machining, painting (coating), mechanical and testing.

* Certified VT Level II or CWI required.

Skills and Abilities:

* Understanding of NDE methods including Radiographic Testing (RT), Liquid Penetrate Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Testing (UT).

* Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading.

* Experienced in using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)
