Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Office of Human Resources, Talent Acquisition the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist supports recruitment efforts for positions across UMN. It works independently with assigned client area to provide full-cycle recruitment support. This will include developing/reviewing job descriptions, developing a recruitment strategy, timeline, and pre-screening candidates to recommend to the hiring team. Will provide interview resources to hiring managers. Partners with the hiring manager in leading offer discussions, recommending salary, and finalizing the offer. Maintains a detailed understanding of jobs and associated requirements across the university. Fields questions on recruiting-related practices and strategies, raising questions as appropriate.

Job Duties
55 % Recruitment Support

  • Provides full-cycle recruitment support for positions across UMN. This includes holding intake meetings, reviewing job descriptions, developing a recruitment strategy, screening and interviewing candidates, recommending an incoming salary based on candidates' credentials, and finalizing the offer.
  • Develops interview guides with behavioral based interview questions for Hiring Leaders.
  • Works with leaders to develop offer terms and recommendations. Makes verbal offer to candidate.
  • Develops a marketing plan and timeline for positions.
  • Provides updates to the Talent Acquisition Manager and hiring unit on key recruiting activities.
  • Communicates with non-selected candidates.
  • Determines if the candidate meets the minimum qualifications.
  • As an individual contributor, role models UMN's dedication to developing an inclusive work environment.
  • Ensures diversity is represented in search committees.
  • Reviews postings to ensure they are promoting inclusive language.
  • Represents the University at job fairs and other recruitment activities.

25% Dedicated Recruitment Support for Specialized Roles

  • Works with Hiring Manager on specialized sourcing strategies for specific job families.
  • Will be the subject matter expert recruiting for specific roles.
  • Partners with assigned colleges, departments, and administrative units to develop and implement effective recruiting strategies for professional, academic, and administrative positions.
  • This position provides consultative guidance throughout the hiring process, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, compliance with applicable policies, and a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

15% Recruitment Process and Policy

  • Recommends changes to processes and guidance based on current market trends.
  • Maintains a solid understanding of all applicable HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensures process compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Advises Hiring Manager on offer letter terms that are appropriate for the position's classification.
  • Attend continued education classes, webinars, or conversations in efforts to increase and maintain knowledge in recruitment.

5% Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources or related field plus two years of experience or a combination of education and work experience to equal at least six years of experience.
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience.
  • Capacity to learn and develop on the job.

Preferred:

  • Professional HR certifications (PHR, SHRM, AIRS).
  • Higher education or equivalent experience.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $32.28 - $36.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
