Overview
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION: Do you lead multidisciplinary construction efforts, guide Construction Inspectors, and thrive as the key liaison among owners, contractors, and stakeholders while delivering highquality technical outcomes? MBP is looking for a Construction Manager to provide high-quality technical leadership for client projects. Ideal candidates bring extensive construction experience, functional leadership of project or task teams, and evidence of progressive career development.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do: Serve as a primary client-facing manager delivering technical work products and on-site representation while coordinating documentation, cost control, and time management. Lead the project's technical effort, provide guidance to the team, and coordinate with project entities to meet schedule and budget targets. Act as a key liaison between the owner and general contractors on specialized, multi-disciplined projects and support decision-making through well-founded recommendations. Represent MBP with professionalism in meetings and client interactions while supporting strategic objectives across assignments. Responsibilities include:
Coordinate and track multiple project activities on concurrent projects and determine staffing requirements to support adequate coverage.
- Liaise between the Owner and General Contractors on specialized, multi-disciplined construction projects, including job site construction inspection.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and manage multidisciplinary work efforts; oversee validation of products and materials ordered for projects to verify conformance to specifications.
- Monitor and assess construction performance and record construction activities to verify compliance with construction documentation requirements.
- Inspect work in progress to verify that methods, materials, and equipment conform to approved standards.
- Maintain project documentation by reviewing Construction Inspectors' daily status reports; chart progress of contract schedules via scheduled meetings; review and coordinate shop drawing submittals; process and facilitate incorporation of RFIs; review contractor change orders, make recommendations, and incorporate approved changes into the project record.
- Facilitate regularly scheduled construction meetings.
- Assist in training and provide technical guidance to Construction Inspectors.
- Review punch lists submitted by others and verify completion and correction of items prior to recommending substantial completion to the Owner.
- Maintain a perspective overview of federal, state, and local laws regulating construction procedures, safety practices, and working conditions.
- Work closely with the Branch Safety Officer to facilitate a high level of safety around the work site.
- Investigate complaints from landowners related to conflicts between construction and rightofway agreements.
- Provide customer service and professional etiquette to the traveling public, adjacent property owners, and other project stakeholders.
- Perform administrative duties including daily timesheet, monthly expense report, and monthly mileage report.
- Support business development, including leadership in shortlist presentation efforts.
- Conduct personnel management activities including performance reviews, coaching, disciplinary matters, and review/approval of timesheets, timeoff requests, mileage, and expense reports.
- Maintain certifications and recertifications.
- Actively participate in company activities, including branch and company meetings.
Who We Are Looking For Experience:
- Extensive construction experience including functional leadership of project or task teams for a construction manager, contractor, owner, developer, or designer.
- Evidence of progressive career development.
Qualifications
Education/Knowledge:
- High school or technical school background; Associate degree or higher strongly preferred.
- Construction practices, principles of construction management, and project controls.
- Working knowledge in scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and construction techniques.
- Personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business development.
Preferred Certifications:
- OSHA 10hour or OSHA 30hour certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire (required).
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation, or ability to obtain within six months of hire or promotion (required).
- NICET Level III or IV, agency certifications, or advanced qualifications in areas such as surveying or NACE preferred for the vertical construction arena.
Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of MBP's diverse services with demonstrated expertise in one or more service areas or market sectors.
- Provide leadership and training to team members and manage project teams.
- Direct client contact and client care.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with contractors, owners, and subconsultants regarding work assignments.
Guidance/Responsibility:
- Work independently and determine solutions with limited guidance.
- Provide training and leadership to Construction Inspectors and other team members.
- Receive overall guidance from Service Strategy and Delivery Executive Leaders, Service Line Managers, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and/or Group Managers.
Supervisory:
- Performs in a supervisory role leading project teams and selfperforms technical tasks.
- Provides leadership to Construction Inspectors and project teams, including personnel management activities.
- Reports to Service Strategy and Delivery Executive Leaders, Service Line Managers, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and/or Group Managers.
