Job Summary
-
The Department seeks qualified applicants for a regular, full-time position as an Accountant. The incumbent will analyze complex problems and advises senior leadership of methods to implement changes or reconcile issues.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the development and management of comprehensive, concise, and responsive ad hoc fiscal and organizational analyses, fiscal policies and procedures, reports, and studies for senior leadership within prescribed deadlines. Prepare and review responses to information requests from the Department's senior leadership, County Department of Finance and Procurement, County Budget Office, other County agencies, and the public. Monitor actual revenues and expenditures of assigned funds to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards. Process journal entries, research and resolve accounting questions and issues, and assist department with obtaining new projects, awards, and GL accounts as needed. Identify system errors and provide documentation of issues to the LCFR's Manager of Budget, Finance, and Administration. Perform monthly/quarterly reconciliation of trial balance accounts to ensure accuracy of balances. Process monthly transfers-in and transfers-out between funds. Coordinate with Budget staff to resolve incorrect and incomplete Budget Adjustments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; two (2) years of related work experience preferably in government accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA, CPFO preferred, but not required.
