The Vice President of Vendor Management will lead the enterprise-wide strategy and centralized execution for overseeing the full vendor life-cycle - from sourcing, contract negotiation to on-boarding, performance management, renewal, and off-boarding. This role is central to driving a unified vendor management model that enhances operational efficiency, reduces risk, controls costs, and aligns with organizational goals. The VP will foster a builder mindset, creating scalable processes, systems, and governance frameworks while promoting cross-functional collaboration to embed vendor management as a strategic driver of growth.
Here's what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:
Job Duties
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for vendor strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, transformation initiatives, and merger integration milestones.
  • Architect and implement a centralized Vendor Management Office (VMO), integrating procurement, sourcing, on-boarding/off-boarding, performance monitoring, and contract administration.
  • Align vendor strategy with digital modernization and operational restructuring efforts.
  • Lead change management to embed vendor management practices across departments and ensure adoption of centralized processes.
  • Champion a builder mindset by designing scalable processes, systems, and playbooks for enterprise-wide vendor management.
  • Oversee a high-performing team responsible for the full vendor life cycle: selection, on-boarding, performance monitoring, renewal, renegotiation, and off-boarding.
  • Establish and maintain sound vendor management monitoring and oversight (e.g., vendor scorecards, KPIs, and dashboards) to track performance, compliance, and value delivery.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure vendor activities meet regulatory, privacy, and internal control standards.
  • Monitor risk triggers (e.g., license true-ups, audit clauses) and proactively mitigate exposure.
  • Ensure timely and compliant execution of all contracts, coordinating with internal stakeholders for reviews and approvals.
  • Lead efforts to consolidate vendors and repaper contracts to reduce redundancy and improve leverage.
  • Own the vendor management budget and report on cost savings, ROI, and value realization.
  • Drive strategic sourcing, cost optimization, and supplier innovation.
  • Support RFP/RFI/RFQ processes and vendor negotiations in alignment with organizational standards and budgets.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key vendors to foster innovation and long-term value creation.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of vendor management systems (e.g., VMS, CLM platforms) to automate workflows and enhance visibility.
  • Ensure system integration with IT, finance, and legal platforms for seamless life-cycle management.
  • Promote continuous improvement through technology, automation, and data analytics.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and the board on vendor performance, risk exposure, cost efficiency, and strategic value.
  • Develop executive dashboards and reporting frameworks to support enterprise decision-making.
  • Lead vendor due diligence and integration planning for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
Essential Skills
  • 10+ years in vendor management, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain leadership.
  • Proven success in building and scaling centralized vendor management functions across complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in enterprise-wide transformation, including mergers, acquisitions, and integration.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, third-party risk, procurement best practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in vendor spend analysis, performance metrics, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, data-driven decisions balancing strategic priorities with operational realities.
  • Familiarity with vendor management systems (e.g., VMS, CLM) and integration with finance, legal, and procurement platforms.
  • Experience leveraging automation, analytics, and dashboards for vendor performance and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Proven track record of navigating complex stakeholder relationships, resolving conflicts, and fostering alignment.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, audit requirements, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Teams).
  • Relevant certifications preferred: CSCP, CPSM, CTPRP, PROSCI.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred but not required.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (advanced degrees preferred) related to Vendor Management or related field or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Required Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in vendor management or related field including 10 years as a people leader.
Location: Hillsboro, OR 97124 | (HYBRID)
Target Compensation in Hillsboro, OR: $230k - $270k annually + annual bonus
