Position Summary

The University
of New Mexico's (UNM) Office for Academic Personnel is seeking a
customer-focused, forward-thinking HR Tech to provide support regarding faculty
personnel actions, administrative support, personnel file maintenance, and
record maintenance associated with client services and labor relations
processes.

The Office for
Academic Personnel (OAP) serves as a central service center for administrators
and faculty within academic units on UNM's Main and Branch campuses, overseeing
the recruitment, selection, appointment, promotion, retention, and oversight of
diverse, highly talented faculty members. Additionally, OAP supports
administrators and graduate assistantship holders within academic units on
UNM's Main and Branch Campuses, and UNM's Health Sciences Center, overseeing
contract issuance and terminations for assistantship holders. The HR Tech will
support OAP by independently performing routine HR and administrative support
activities and in leading the coordination and administration of various HR
initiatives.

Duties and
responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Works
    with client department to resolve policy-related, process-related, or
    procedural problems and/or inquiries pertaining to personnel changes.
  • Participates in testing, trouble shooting and
    problem resolution in the development and maintenance of human resources data
    bases, enterprise resource planning systems, and manual/electronic filing
    systems on an as needed basis.
  • Provides responsive and accurate transaction
    and data processing for a broad range of personnel transactions, ensuring
    accuracy and completeness of data and compliance with University policies,
    procedures, and guidelines.
  • Receives, reviews and processes all relevant
    source data documentation pertaining to hiring, termination, employee status
    changes, special compensation and/or special contract assignments for entry
    into the University's HR information system (HRIS).
  • Performs routine correspondence with
    applicants, onboarding faculty, graduate assistantship holders, departmental
    clients, and mass email listservs.
  • Maintains OAP's database records related to
    personnel files, labor agreements, and HR processes.
  • May prepare meeting minutes regarding
    confidential personnel actions, labor relations activities, and OAP staff
    meetings.
  • May Maintain OAP's website, updating content
    and support tools pertaining to faculty and graduate assistantship holders.
  • May oversee incoming inquiries and requests
    and organizes responsive information. Routes incoming inquiries accordingly.
  • Maintains
    knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements, labor
    relations, employee relations and human resources practices.

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong
    interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Over three years of analytical and problem-solving
    experience.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
    environment.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and
    guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven
    ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related
    software.
