Job Description: The Commercial Banking Officer makes and services commercial loans within lending limits. They perform other customer service routines as required and manage a commercial loan portfolio. They may also make consumer loans and residential mortgage loans. As the Commercial Banking Officer, you may look forward to:
- Developing new business for the bank by calling on prospective commercial members.
- Retaining existing members through follow-up and by providing excellent service.
- Interviewing applicants to develop information concerning their businesses, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk.
- Obtaining and analyzing financial data and providing service on approved lines of credit, equipment financing loans, etc.
- Drafting necessary documents and agreements.
- Conducting credit checks.
- Making decisions on loans and terms if within the lending limits or making recommendations to a superior lending officer.
- Following current loans to ensure complete conformity with terms and knowledge of developing trends.
- Calling on potential or existing members and introducing them to other departments when another service is needed.
- Supervising and giving direction to staff (if applicable).
- Obeys all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
You are a person who (required skills):
- Has at least five years of commercial lending experience or experience in loan operations or credit analysis.
- Has extensive knowledge of documentation and regulations.
- Has proven business development skills
- Has excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally.
- Has strong connections to and relationships with referral sources/centers of influence in the greater Richmond market.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
You'll be better prepared if you have (desired skills):
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- Previous management or supervisory experience.
Physically, you can anticipate:
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
- Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
- Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
