Job Information Open Rank, Tenure Track Faculty in Environment Finance and Risk Management Florida International University is seeking applications for an open-rank faculty position in Environmental and Disaster Risk Management, Policy, and Finance. We seek exceptional candidates in applied mathematics, finance, policy, environmental economics, disaster risk modeling, decision sciences, or similar quantitative fields, particularly to collaborate in the development of innovative approaches, instruments, and policies for disaster risk management. Candidates with interdisciplinary research experience and training are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate would excel in disaster risk management scholarship, and lead risk policy and finance by interfacing with public and private stakeholders at multiple scales and across risk management institutions. The candidate would contribute to interdisciplinary training as part of the Environmental Finance and Risk Management Program, housed in the Institute of Environment. The program combines mathematical finance and environmental sciences to price, trade, hedge, transfer environmental and disaster-related financial risks, and to devise new financial instruments to mitigate, adapt, and reduce environmental and disaster risk to incentivize resilience and sustainability. Qualifications Completion of a PhD in Disaster and Risk Policy, Decision Science, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Economics, Applied Mathematics to the Environmental Sciences, Quantitative Environmental Finance, or a related field is required. Applicants must also have demonstrated teaching and research experience in those fields, preferably involving the natural environment, such as contingent financing for natural hazard preparedness, or financial risk transfer for adverse environmental conditions. Further qualifications include excellent potential in research involving modeling of complex systems, an aptitude to supervise students at the MSc and PhD levels, and a desire to engage in our cross-disciplinary research groups.
