About the Opportunity:

As a Precision CNC Grinding Machinist, you will play a critical role in producing high-precision aerospace components by operating CNC grinding equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position supports production by running established programs, performing minor set-ups, and making real-time adjustments to ensure parts meet exact blueprint and work order specifications-often holding tolerances of .001 or tighter.

You will work with a variety of CNC grinding machines in a cellular manufacturing environment, where the ability to operate multiple machines, understand feeds and speeds, and apply proper grinding wheel selection is essential. Daily responsibilities include dimensional inspection, documentation of production data, basic operator maintenance, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.

This is a hands-on machining role ideal for someone who takes pride in precision, quality, and consistency. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset-supporting teammates, sharing knowledge, and contributing to Pursuit Aerospace's commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Location: Plainville, CT

This role is 100% onsite and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs minor set-ups and operates CNC Grinding machines and related equipment where programs, fixtures, and methods have been developed.
  • Makes all edits and adjustments as required to produce parts to work orders/blue print specifications/sketches. Holding +.001 or smaller tolerances.
  • The ability to operate more than one machine in a cellular environment is required.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of feeds and speeds and a working knowledge of grinding wheels and their application.
  • Inspects work for all dimensional features as required.
  • Produces quality and quantity of work in accordance with Company requirements.
  • Responsible for accurately completing paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, etc according to Company policy.
  • Performs duties exercising good machining practices at all times.
  • Maintains area, equipment, and tooling in a neat, orderly condition including operator maintenance sheets.
  • Maintains coolant tanks and fills as necessary.
  • Assists new and less experienced operators as requested.
  • Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Prefer a minimum of one year experience as a CNC operator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to use power tools and hand tools as well as heavy equipment
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
  • Analytic thinker that gets to the root of problems and comes up with permanent solutions to remedy issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with others
  • Some plumbing experience
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision

Working Conditions

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk and twist.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
