About the position:

This intern will have the opportunity to participate in orientation and training sessions across the company's refined products departments in order to understand how teams interact and support refined product sales. Over the summer, the RP Sales intern will gain valuable experience in sales support (including inside and outside sales) and the dynamics of energy marketing. This position sits in a fast paced, trade floor environment and will have cross departmental training and insight into business workings. The intern selected will also participate in events, presentations, customer meetings and will be able to build a full understanding of the sales cycle, taking leads from prospecting to revenue generating customers.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:



  • Support and generation of new business through phone calls and in person sales calls
  • Relationship building
  • Analysis of sales, marketing and pricing data
  • Updating and composition of Sprague training materials
  • Data entry of contact information into Salesforce contact management system
  • Presentation preparation and assisting sales both internal and external sales reps
  • Complete competitive analysis to help gain a better understanding of the industry
  • Participation in trade shows and industry events
  • Creation and distribution of marketing campaign material
  • Participate in team projects as required
  • Provide backup coverage and support supervisor as required



Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:



  • Working towards a degree in Business, Communications or related field
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work well with others, organize workload, and complete tasks efficiently in a fast- paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while simultaneously relating to customers, outside contacts and fellow employees
  • Some travel required throughout assigned sales territory
  • Strong computer literacy required
