Description
- Coordinate, direct, and monitor all plant health, safety and environmental compliance programs and results. Develop and implement policies and procedures necessary to meet requirements of safety and environmental policies and regulations and ensure safe and environmentally compliant legal operation and maintenance of the facility.
- Function as a subject matter expert (SME) to plant team members on EHS issues.
- Conduct facility inspections on a specified basis and conduct necessary sampling, monitoring and coordination to ensure that site environmental obligations are met.
- Review environmental records for completeness and accuracy and maintain the environmental record-keeping system. Draft, review, and submit required environmental reports.
- Monitor and maintain facility safety environmental compliance with all permits, requirements, and regulations (including OSHA, RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, CAA, CWA, DOT, etc.).
- Champion the company safety program and industrial hygiene program and lead and promote a safe work environment. Conduct field audits, provide guidance on safety leadership and drive overall site safety performance. Monitor plant safety performance and program implementation.
- Conduct incident response activities.
- Lead and conduct root cause failure analyses for incidents.
- Maintain compliance with all appropriate federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations and notify plant personnel of any applicable changes. Maintain appropriate records and documentation.
- Conduct or participate in incident investigations as required, including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate.
- Train and coach team members in safe work practices and good housekeeping practices. Coach and encourage development and growth of skills and abilities.
- Monitor, review, prepare and analyze incident reports and data to identify trends, root cause analysis (RCA), or non-compliance; recommend and implement corrective actions accordingly.
- Represent the company appropriately when dealing with state, federal or local agency representatives (EPA, OSHA, etc.), or community members in response to questions, comments or concerns regarding plant activities.
- Stay abreast of changes to environmental and safety regulations.
- Work effectively with Team Members at all levels of the organization, consulting with other departments, other sites corporate resources or other parties as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS: EPA Method 9 Opacity Reading certification, DOT Certification, HAZWOPER certification and ISO 14001 a plus.
