What this position entails

The Senior Developer will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative technology solutions for the P&C claims industry. As a core member of our growing Nodal team, you will transform market needs and product requirements into scalable, high-quality software.

Nodal is a comprehensive SaaS platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze structured and unstructured data, predict claim risk, and activate early interventions on high-cost claims. Our team brings together advanced data ingestion, machine learning, and intuitive product design to give clients actionable insights at scale.

What you will be doing

We are seeking someone who can help accelerate Nodal's growth by delivering products that drive efficiency, compliance, and measurable value for our clients.



  • Design, develop, and enhance software solutions that solve business challenges
  • Contribute to the architecture, design, and planning of new features and system capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, data engineers, actuaries, and subject-matter experts
  • Build and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure high-quality code
  • Manage your workload responsibly with an eye toward project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Help the team achieve sprint goals through independent work and cross-functional collaboration
  • Participate in code reviews to uphold quality, maintainability, and best practices
  • Support and improve deployment pipelines and release processes
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing security, encryption, and other platform-level technologies
  • Architect and implement modern front-end frameworks (React/TypeScript) and robust backend API services (Django, REST).
  • Design, optimize, and maintain SQL databases
  • Document code, architectures, and features to ensure long-term maintainability
  • Use GitHub and GitFlow confidently in a collaborative development environment


What we need



  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience
  • Strong experience in software development using programming or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL
  • Cloud development experience with Azure and/or AWS
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, efficient CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Terraform
  • Understanding of Agile practices (e.g. Scrum)
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle
  • Excellent technical design, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Experience with:

    • Domain driven design
    • Microservice architecture
    • Event-driven architecture
    • Writing testable code, unit tests, integration tests, etc.


  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to interpret and implement business and functional requirements
  • Understanding of the value of test automation and a desire to incorporate it in development practice

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is March 31, 2026. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $93,700 - $222,985. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.

For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia:




    • $107,755 - $177,675 if overall experience is less than 5 years; and
    • $135,125 - $222,985 for experience greater than 5 years.




  • All other states:

    • $93,700 - $154,500 if overall experience is less than 5 years; and
    • $117,500 - $193,900 for experience greater than 5 years.




A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
