Senior Discipline Civil Engineer (15+ Years)

We're re-launching our Civil Engineering Department in Seattle and seeking a Senior Discipline Civil Engineer to help build it from the ground up. This is a high-impact role for a proven technical leader who's excited to shape a team, elevate client relationships, and grow a practice-with clear leadership responsibility and potential pathway to management/ownership (subject to company policies) in a well-established multi-discipline office.

As a Senior Discipline Civil Engineer at Coffman Engineers' Seattle Office, you will be part of a collaborative, creative, and high-performing team that believes in making a difference for our clients and our communities. Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture
• Manage civil engineering projects from inception to completion, maintaining quality, schedule, and budget adherence
• Provide technical oversight and quality control for designs, reports, and deliverables
• Serve as a subject matter expert in civil engineering design, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices
• Identify and pursue business opportunities
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, municipalities, and key stakeholders
• Lead proposal development, contract negotiations, and project scope discussions
• Monitor project profitability and implement process improvements as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required
  • Registration in Washington (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Registration in Oregon preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive civil engineering site development experience including the following:
  • Preparing fee and qualifications-based proposals
  • Managing multiple, concurrent projects
  • Leading design team efforts
  • Successfully managing project budgets and schedules
  • Interfacing with a multi-discipline design team
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Client management
• Technical experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, mapping documents, preparation and processing of civil construction documents, and earthwork calculations
  • Stormwater experience in Western Washington strongly preferred
• Excellent communication, client service, and team leadership skills.
• Ability to foster long term client relationships
• Business development interest and the ability to help win and grow work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience coordinating with a multi-discipline design team is strongly preferred
• Experience collaborating with local architectural/engineering community is strongly preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft office and other software
• Project experience in Industrial, Federal, and Alternative Energy / Energy Storage markets strongly preferred
• Experience designing public utilities
• Experience serving as a prime consultant
• Experience with zoning entitlements and permit procurement
• Ability to work with counterparts in other Coffman offices to share workload when required
• Experience with managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
• Experience attending and participating in local professional organizations
• Specification preparation experience preferred

• Ability to work with counterparts in other offices to share workload when required

Expected annual salary of $130,000 - $180,000.
