Repairs and maintains electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks, following manuals, and using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake, and other automotive systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel to customer locations as required for customer needs.
  • Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Diagnoses and repairs a variety of systems and related components, including, but not limited to, aerial devices, fire pump systems, steering systems, braking systems, suspensions, charging and cranking systems, drive trains and a wide range of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning (MVAC) systems.
  • Identifies and locates defective parts/components, removes and replaces parts/components and makes required adjustments. Conducts stationary tests and verifies or certifies that product meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Reconditions and replaces parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings, using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • May weld and cut parts, using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment.
  • May fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
  • Installs new ignition systems, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces other parts, using hand tools.
  • Must followed all safety guidelines in accordance with company policy to insure personal safety as well as the safety of those around you.
  • Perform other duties as required to assist with meeting customer and dealer expectations.

REQUIREMENTS (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

  • Must possess a HS Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and understand English
  • Must be able to work a computer.
  • Must possess basic fabrication skills, e.g. cutting and material preparation, in order to accomplish proper fit/retrofit, alignment and/or modification of brackets for component installation.
  • Must be able to climb, twist, bend, stoop, stand, squat, and grasp.
  • Must have use of hands and be able to work over-head.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license, CDL "B" driver's license, PREFERRED.

QUALIFICATIONS - Within two (2) years of appointment (beginning immediately):

  • Must possess and maintain an AC Certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a Fork Lift Operator "C" certification
  • Must have a variety of mechanics tools necessary to perform the related job requirements listed above.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certifications for Level I EVT status must be achieved within two years from appointment
  • Ferrara Aerial Certification Levels I & II must be achieved within two years from appointment
  • Achievement of Lean Bronze Certification within two years from appointment
