Position Summary

The Administrative Manager in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and The Center for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence reports to the Assistant Director and provides professional, executive-level administrative and operational support for a highly active and rapidly expanding academic research department at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Provide strategic and administrative support to faculty, students and department team of academic advisors to deliver high-quality academic services by ensuring timely and efficient programming for students across department academic programs. Manage, plan and execute administrative and operational systems, oversee departmental procurement, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with University-wide policies and procedures.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area

Required Experience:
3+ years experience in a highly matrixed, highly active, academic research department; experience developing new policies and processes, overseeing the effective, efficient execution of administrative functions utilizing complex systems; experience in a student services function, using databases to manage information, managing budgets and staff, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years Experience in student service management in higher education; 3+ years of managerial experience; advising students at the college or university level; planning and executing student support services and events.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High degree of initiative. Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail. Ability to set priorities and to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent oral and written communications skills; excellent listening skills. Strong customer service orientation. Excellent problem-solving skills and knowledge of customer/student services best practices. Ability to work independently with little oversight, to execute tasks in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Experience with financial reporting and budget management. MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with the academic cycle in higher education; familiarity with and ability to effectively use complex financial and hr databases to execute tasks in a timely manner; ability to navigate complex processes in highly matrixed organization; ability to form strong partnerships across an organization in order to execute work; service oriented.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $82,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
