Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly experienced Contractor - Senior Staff Quality Engineer for 9 months, to join our team in Goleta, CA, to ensure the highest standards of quality in our rollout solar array projects.
The Senior Staff Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving product quality for our space technology projects. This position involves comprehensive quality assurance responsibilities, including program quality assurance, QMS processes, root cause analysis and corrective actions, and customer quality support and communications. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of defect-free products that meet or exceed customer expectations.


Responsibilities


  • Ability to work independently, as a member of a team and to lead teams.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Guide and check the work of less experienced workers.
  • Work with little guidance and decide and create ways to solve problems, provide solutions to a variety of problems, know the goals but can choose the way to get there.
  • Work under general direction, independently determine and develop approaches to solutions, results are reviewed upon completion for meeting objectives.
  • Quality Management Systems ownership and operation of internal audit, material and failure review board, corrective action, and potentially other quality assurance processes & procedures.
  • Proactive and reactive QMS process development, improvements, and corrections based on performance metrics and supplier re-evaluation process.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Process nonconformances through the nonconforming material process.
  • Process corrective action requests, ensure adequacy of root cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions, follow-up to ensure implementation and effectiveness of actions.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and program personnel on quality related issues.
  • Occasional support for other projects and programs as determined by the Quality Manager.



Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) field and minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or space technology industry, or 12+ years relevant experience.
  • Deep and broad knowledge of quality assurance and related fields.
  • Expert knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Proven experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Knowledge of common inspection tools and how to use them.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability and flexibility with evolving work priorities & challenges
  • Proficient in using quality management software and tools.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%).
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR.


Desired Skills & Experience


  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
  • Experience aerospace technology, products, and processes.
  • Solar panels / cells, composites, electrical harnesses, and machined parts experience.
  • Deltek Costpoint / TIPQA ERP system experience.

Pay Range
$70.00/hour - $94.00/hour
How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will be considered for higher pay.
