GENERAL FUNCTION

The candidate will lead financial reporting, planning, and analysis for North American freight operations, working closely with operations leadership to provide support, gather and summarize critical data, and leverage automated reporting solutions and analytics. This role requires strong analytical abilities, solid business acumen, and deep competency with business intelligence tools, along with a strong understanding of logistics and freight operations.

Responsibilities include developing departmental budgets, forecasts, and estimates in partnership with operational owners and finance leadership to ensure financial commitments are met; performing monthly variance analyses and preparing accruals and accounting adjustments for accurate financial closing; collaborating with market FP&A teams to reconcile monthly service charges; and preparing and reviewing financial reports and KPIs while providing management input and maintaining a clear view of risks and opportunities within their areas of responsibility.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develops strong business partnerships with Operations Leadership and key stakeholders by setting short- and long-term financial and operational targets and driving the execution of business strategies.
  • Leads the freight month-end close process and related controlling activities, including identifying, preparing, and adjusting accruals; collaborates closely with Market FP&A to ensure accurate allocation and billing of service charges.
  • Owns the design, development, and maintenance of Operations/Finance business intelligence infrastructure, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
  • Partners with Operations leadership to conduct deep-dive analyses into trends, productivity KPIs, and operational insights; prepares management reports to satisfy both local and corporate requirements.
  • Enables effective decision-making by retrieving, consolidating, and transforming data from multiple sources into clear, actionable formats.
  • Leads cost-optimization initiatives and evaluates financial returns on automation and process-improvement projects.
  • Provides financial insights and recommendations for periodic business reviews with senior management.
  • Drives simplification and efficiency across finance operations by identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance processes and tools.
  • Manages financial relationships with freight forwarders and transportation providers, ensuring service performance and supporting the resolution of operational issues.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial/analytical roles, preferably within logistics, operations, or manufacturing
  • Strong financial analysis skills with proficiency in Excel and SAP
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong learning agility and adaptability in fast-paced, changing environments
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and drive process or business enhancements
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize across shifting demands


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • MBA and/or CPA
  • Experience in building business intelligence infrastructure and solutions (from data warehouse development to interactive dashboards)
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Demonstrate leadership skills throughout ownership of projects, working proactively, and seeking out new opportunities
