JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Project Coordinator MAYOR'S OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Bureau/Unit of Training and Development Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $75,336 Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm on 01/05/2026 MOPD seeks to fill a Project Coordinator position who will develop navigator services for individuals who acquire disability through gun and community violence, and also work to build and support an accessible eco-system of support services with community partners. This includes serving individuals who acquire disabilities, providing training and outreach on physical and community access, overseeing accessibility audits of organizations, coordinating in person events, developing and provide training, overseeing and developing resource guides for community organizations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Collaborates with non profits and community organizations to support individuals who become disabled due to gun or community violence by sharing resources and providing trainings * Update and implement MOPD's Accessibility Checklist * Represent MOPD at outreach events * Organize and facilitate MOPD events related to supporting individuals who become disabled due to gun or community violence * Develops and leads small support groups for individuals who acquire disabilities through gun or community violence * Research and organize resource materials * Serve as a liaison between Chicago residents, other city department and sister agencies, and community organizations * Serve on various committees and advisory groups * Develop, update, implement, and report on grant deliverables. LOCATION: Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) 121 N LaSalle St (City Hall) and 2102 West Ogden (Central West Community Center) Chicago IL 60602 HOURS: 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications

The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following: * Previous experience working with the disability community and disability organizations. * Lived experience with disability. * Previous experience working with individuals who have or acquire disability through gun and community violence and have knowledge and ability in providing services related to disability and trauma. * Experience and understanding of disabilities including effective communication with individuals with disabilities. * Experience in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care. * Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training materials.
