Position Summary

The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation, development, and testing of software solutions for new and existing networked medical devices and medical device data handling systems for market leading operating room integration systems. The Software Engineer will analyze and refine design requirements, implement and build innovative solutions, and resolve software and system issues as assigned for our Customers.

What You'll do as a Software Engineer

  • Implements, tests, and debugs applications according to corporate standards and procedures on new and sustaining engineering project
  • Contributes to new product development projects and to sustaining marketed products worldwide
  • Works as a collaborative software project team member under the direct supervision of software and systems leadership
  • Develops and maintains software designs and software documentation
  • Assists in assessing new technologies, development tools, and test platforms
  • Participates in technical reviews of requirements, designs, and test methods to verify design outputs meet design inputs and identify any potential issues
  • Creates and executes software unit, integration, and functional verification tests
  • Reviews and resolves software change requests and defects
  • Program and debug servers and applications

The Experience, Abilities and Skills Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the design and development of software and firmware systems
  • Experience working in medical device industry or other regulated industry which require formalized software development processes and software risk management is desirable
  • Proficiency in Linux system management (e.g. command-line, bash and shell scripting, SSH, package updates)
  • Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, SQL, REST, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, node.js, Docker, vue.js, Grub, EFI, Systemd
  • Knowledge and practical experience in object-oriented analysis, design, and programming
  • A strong interest in working with embedded computers and controllers and an understanding of their constraints
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using software integrated development environments (IDEs) and tools including compiling/building, debugging, configuration management (version control), defect management, continuous integration, and code analysis tools
  • Ability to understand and utilize hardware interfaces captured in specifications and electrical design schematics

The Preferred Experience, Abilities and Skills

  • Exposure to Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Exposure to Agile Scrum
  • Rigorous pursuit of root-cause and problem solving
  • Exposure to relational databases (SQL)
  • Exposure in networking fundamentals (e.g. IP-addressing, DNS, VPN)
  • Exposure to machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Experience with configuration management, continuous integration(CI), continuous deployment(CD), and automated code analysis tools
  • Experience with SW build/collaboration tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jenkins
  • Exceptional team player

Pay range for this opportunity is $92,000-115,000.This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
