Director, AI

We have an opportunity for a Director, AI to join our Digital Transformation team in Santa Clara, CA (HQ), Tacoma, WA, or Remote, reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and execution of our enterprise AI strategy, driving innovative, data-driven solutions that enhance efficiency, resilience, and intelligence across IT operations and business systems. Collaborating closely with our data science, security, infrastructure, and application development teams, you will architect and deploy cutting-edge AI capabilities in a dynamic, cloud-first environment - advancing automation, predictive analytics, and intelligent decision support across the organization. You'll help shape the future of enterprise technology by working with a collaborative team that prioritizes innovation, continuous learning, and measurable business impact.

Be a Contributor - What You'll Do


  • Develop enterprise-wide AI strategy and roadmap aligned with IT modernization and business transformation objectives
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI and machine learning models that optimize IT operations, cybersecurity, and service delivery
  • Apply architectural thinking to ensure AI solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, scalability standards, and long-term technology vision
  • Collaborate with data engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure scalable, secure integration of AI into enterprise platforms
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and vendors to identify opportunities for innovation and operational improvement
  • Establish governance frameworks and ethical standards for AI adoption, data usage, and model transparency
  • Drive automation initiatives that improve system performance, incident response, and predictive maintenance
  • Ensure robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support advanced analytics and model training at scale
  • Mentor cross-functional teams and foster AI fluency across the IT organization
  • Partner with business leaders to translate strategic objectives into actionable AI-driven solutions
  • Measure and communicate the value and ROI of AI initiatives to executive leadership

Be Prepared - What You Bring


  • 10+ years of progressive experience in AI/data science/ML engineering roles, including leadership of teams and large-scale deployments
  • 5+ years in a strategic technology leadership role (e.g., managing enterprise data, analytics or AI initiatives)
  • Expertise in machine learning frameworks, large-scale data platforms, and cloud/edge computing environments
  • Strong proficiency in enterprise architecture and architectural thinking-able to design reusable, scalable AI/ML solution patterns that align with business technology standards
  • Proven ability to translate complex AI/ML concepts into business outcomes, build strong cross-functional relationships (with data engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, business stakeholders) and manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Demonstrated track record of governance, ethical AI practices, model lifecycle management (including monitoring drift, versioning, deployment) and risk mitigation
  • Excellent strategic thinking, financial acumen (ROI assessment for AI initiatives), and ability to champion change and innovation across an organization
  • Hands-on familiarity with data pipeline architectures, MLOps practices, data strategy and clean data foundations for advanced analytics
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or equivalent; Master's degree (or higher) preferred
  • Continuous learner mindset with demonstrated commitment to keeping up with emerging AI trends (e.g., generative AI, prompt engineering, AI ethics) and ability to foster an AI-literate culture

Be Successful - Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

Six Months: Establish a comprehensive enterprise AI strategy and roadmap, initiate key automation and predictive analytics projects, and build strong cross-functional partnerships across IT, data science, and infrastructure teams.

One Year: Fully operationalize AI capabilities across core IT and business systems, delivering measurable improvements in efficiency and decision-making, while implementing governance frameworks and demonstrating ROI to executive leadership.

We practice pay transparency and reward performance. Offers reflect role location, internal equity, experience, skills, education, and certifications. Base salary for this position: $208,500.00 - $321,090.00 plus bonus.
