Supervisor of Intake and Assessment

The Supervisor of Intake and Admissions reports to, and provides assistance to, the Director of Intake and Admissions in directing the Admissions Department activities at the facility. As a clinician, this position provides assistance in directing a staff of specialists in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments. In addition, the Supervisor of Intake and Admissions is responsible for assisting in the management, planning and improvement of processes related to the overall hospital's strategic goals.

The Ridge Behavioral Health System is a 110-bed hospital located in the heart of the Bluegrass, Lexington, KY. The Ridge provides psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. The Ridge offers Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, as well as Medication Management for all ages. We have provided behavioral health services to over 92 Kentucky counties for more than 39 years.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Human Services field or a Registered Nurse preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience

  • A minimum of1 year direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health settingrequired, 1-3 years preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • A minimum ofone (1) year of supervisory experience, preferably in the Intake and Admissions department.

Other Skills

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of fundamentals of hospital organization and administration, standards, and regulations of hospital, and laws applicable to mental health treatment.
  • Prefer knowledge of hospital admissions functions, crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of managed care, third party payers, and reimbursement within the area of psychiatric care.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and skills in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
