THE POSITION

The expert will have strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems and will be able to design and implement automation scripts. They should also understand virtualization systems (like VMWare) and enterprise backup/restoration strategies (preferably using NetApp). This role involves providing high-level technical support and guidance for RHEL Operating Environments, related systems, and middleware, focusing on system administration for JSSC operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Oversee key system administration tasks with a team of technicians, managing various versions of RHEL operating systems, supporting tools, middleware, and user privileges.
  • Participate in change and configuration control processes and implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) to support Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM).
  • Provide leadership on major tasks and technology projects to maintain systems and applications. Communicate with customers and contract leaders about complex technical issues, ensuring cybersecurity standards are met for JSSC and its customers.
  • Analyze application diagnostics and system performance, resolving challenges with RHEL utilities and software upgrades to improve reliability.
  • Troubleshoot incidents related to RHEL systems and document responses, developing strategies and standards for RHEL resources.
  • Create and oversee system upgrades, identifying needs and planning effectively to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop, install, and monitor RHEL systems, migrating application subsystems and working with customers and development teams on improvements.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and support cybersecurity efforts to maintain system security.
  • Evaluate and recommend software, guidelines, and project plans to junior staff, providing solutions for prompt issue resolution, patch management, and administrative support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum activeTop-SecretClearance with the ability tobeSensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinated;AND,
  • DoD 8140/8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) CompTIA Security+ CE Certification;AND,
  • High School Diploma;AND,
  • 10 years of information technology experience.


PREFERRED



  • PERL Scripting Experience.
