Department OverviewThe U.S. Federal Governments Markets Division (USFGMD) is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world-class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing the highest quality products, systems and services. The USFGMD achieves this with a professional, well-trained, diverse workforce creating a positive and profitable customer relationship resulting in total customer satisfaction and growth of our business. The Federal Systems Technology Department of the USFGMD is responsible for service supporting a charter of implementing and integrating complex systems sold worldwide to the U.S. Federal Government. As a USFGMD System Upgrade Agreement (SUA) Field Service Technician (FST), you will be exposed to a wide variety of communications requirements in both the Presale, Post Sale, and sustainment/life cycle phases of a project. These applications span the entire breadth of the U.S. Federal Government throughout the world. Job Description
  • The Technical Program Manager will lead a team consisting of SUA FST Managers and SUA FST's to develop and execute a deployment plan for contracted SUAs.
  • This critical position is responsible for managing both field resource managers and all technical resources for U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force Global Sustainment Programs, and Army in Europe. The team is responsible for performing all field work related to upgrades for these customers.
  • Annually, this team executes multiple global system upgrades for these customers.
  • This role involves significant responsibilities, including managing clearances, base access worldwide, special requirements, and training for the team. It encompasses everything needed for travel to perform upgrades, as well as the overall management and utilization of resources. Additionally, this position manages field-engineering resources for Civil/LEA and DoD.
  • The Technical Program Manager is responsible for managing the System Upgrade Agreement (SUA) budget and defining technician roles and tasks to ensure a successful migration of these critical, high-visibility projects. Contracted SUAs are particularly challenging due to extensive customizations throughout the enterprise, necessitating customized testing in a lab environment. Therefore, the Technical Program Manager will manage relationships with Upgrade Operations and third-party vendors to develop and execute strategies and test plans, ensuring flawless production deployment performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate extensively, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders, technicians, and engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Present plans, answer questions, and provide regular customer updates.

  • Identify potential issues affecting quality, cost, or timeframe, and recommend solutions to mitigate their impact.

  • Promote and foster a positive culture and environment for resource management to maximize throughput and retention.

  • Assess the business and organizational implications of various strategies.

  • Travel for in-person design review meetings, where the Technical Program Manager will host and lead discussions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in defining business and technical requirements and managing resources.

  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities of varying priorities, and to efficiently shift focus with minimal loss of productivity or work quality.

  • Knowledge of Motorola Radio systems and equipment is desired.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be capable of obtaining an acceptable adjudication of DOD Secret (T3) Clearance within 18 months of initial employment date
  • Complete standard form SF86 questionnaire and fingerprinting for national security positions

Travel/Location:

  • Travel internationally and domestically up to 25% of the time is required
  • This position is remote and can be performed from most continental US states. Any residence relocation or long-term home office location requires management and MSI HR approval
  • A permanent residence based 60 miles or less from a mid to large class International Airport is required.
  • Ability to obtain/hold a U.S. Passport, International Drivers Permit, and the ability to legally drive and rent a vehicle as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

Target Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

  • Bachelors Degree AND 5+ years of experience in one of the following: Project Management, Program Management, Technical Resource Management, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, System Administration, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, IT, IT Systems, Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee Security Suite, MCC7500 Dispatch, NICE Logging, E911, Dispatch, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking equipment or Military experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by our government contracts.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
