Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • One year experience at University of Georgia or University System of Georgia preferred.

Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist I provides human resources guidance and support for departments within the College of Family and Consumer Sciences ( FACS). The Human Resources Generalist is a member of the Office of Finance and Human Resources ( OFHR) and reports to the Director of Human Resources.

The incumbent provides general human resources support, including UGAJobs and OneUSG Connect position, posting and hiring transactions, terminations, onboarding, offboarding/exit interviews and advising on best practices, policies and procedures. This individual is also responsible for managing the College's dedicated human resources email accounts and DocuSign account.

Departmental HR Operations:

  • Manage Human Resources operations for the four departments in the College and any subunits of the departments, including: Financial Planning, Housing, and Consumer Economics; Human Development and Family Science, and McPhaul Child Development Lab; Nutritional Sciences; and Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors.

    • Submit and track UGAJobs and OneUSG Connect position management, posting and hiring proposal transactions.
    • Ensure compliance with I-9 and various federal, state, University and BOR regulations.
    • Conduct search committee charge meetings, onboard new employees, and conduct exit interviews/offboarding meetings.
    • Submit and track termination requests.
    • Advise on USG/UGA policies, procedures and best practices.
    • Assist hiring managers with position descriptions.



  • Confirm completion of position and hiring proposal actions and partner with OFHR Payroll Manager to verify all associated payroll actions are processed timely.

FACS HR Emails/DocuSign:

  • Manages FACSOFHR email accounts and answer questions or escalates to others on the OFHR HR Team.
  • Initiate and track DocuSign signature routing for human resources documentation and forms.
  • Coordinates with University Human Resources on completion of volunteer background checks.

  • Maintains and updates the OFHR website as the College's central Human Resources and Finance information hub, assisting with updating documents, procedures, policies, and forms.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of institutional policies, systems, state and federal law, communicating new policies or changes to existing policy throughout the organization.
