POSITION CONCEPT: This position is responsible for the engineering and design of Tampa Electric Company's (TEC) distribution system, focused on new construction and capital projects. This position will establish relationships with customers and local agencies to determine the requirements for providing service. The Engineer will design and manage projects using TEC tools, and create the necessary permit and construction drawings. The Engineer will be responsible for the successful coordination of the project with TEC departments to completion.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meet with customers and/or their agents (Customers) to conduct needs and feasibility assessments on multiple construction projects and load additions of varying scale. Manage the schedule and required completion dates of different design phases.
Manage communication to all involved entities concerning any updates in the design schedule or other changes with potential impact, documenting updates through letters and emails, as necessary.
Coordinate and manage the design activities between TEC Planning & Scheduling, Field Construction, Operations, the Customer, and any other ED Departments.
Oversee contracted design work and coordinate internal processes as needed.
2. Create and manage work requests (WR) in the Work Management System (WMS).
3. Perform analysis to determine the most economical and reliable solutions for customers and the TEC distribution system.
Calculate and analyze customer load for proper sizing of TEC facilities
Design and determine TEC facility locations
Design to NESC and TEC specifications, providing pole loading analysis, cable pulling calculations, ruling span calculations, clearances, motor start calculations, voltage drop, and sag calculations.
Adhere to Florida Administrative Code (Tariff)
4. Using TEC's geographical information system (GIS), design the proposed and update existing electrical features (company assets). Establish all specifications in GIS, such as the correct electrical connectivity, proper supporting structures, and all compatible units (CU) for materials and labor. Resolve any identified errors in GIS, ensure all GIS task types are linked to the WMS WRs, and export GIS material data to WMS.
5. Produce and/or oversee the production of construction prints for construction, operations, and/or contractors:
Verify and approve that locations of TEC's existing and proposed equipment and any third party infrastructure (water, sewer, storm, gas, telephone, and cable lines) are adequately identified on the construction prints, and equipment specifications are captured.
Based on the scope of construction and company safety standards, determine necessity and scale of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan that Field Construction, Operations, and/or contractors would need for completing work in the right-of-way.
Prepare GIS prints to submit to regulatory agencies for DOT, City, County, or other required governing agency permits.
Generate construction prints that clearly communicate the plan of work to the field crews.
6. Produce construction cost estimates (including labor, materials, and vehicle) and obtain/calculate projected four year revenue as needed. Determine and communicate the need for Contribution-in-Aid-of-Construction (CIAC) charges to customers based on TEC revenue shortage/excess costs.
7. Access and inspect energized equipment and install current/voltage recording devices for troubleshooting. Troubleshoot customer voltage complaints using various instruments; such as recording ammeters, voltmeters. Install, program, and download voltage monitoring devices, analyze results, and utilize engineering skills and practices to resolve customer voltage complaints.
8. Using visual and physical procedures, investigate, examine, and test the integrity of TEC distribution facilities to determine the need for replacement or upgrade.
9. Interpret plans for large projects of relative complexity, such as road widening, intersection improvements, and relocations of infrastructures. Identify all impacted TEC facilities and reconcile the final design, protecting TEC's assets and satisfying the local agency requirements. Provide engineering for large master-planned developments and large commercial projects including malls, retail, and schools.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
Preferred: Focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Completed or eligible to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE)

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to function successfully within the team environment, consistent positive leadership, and initiative skills.
Ability to work under direct supervision on routine assignments with projects of varying scope and complexity, following established policies, methods, and standard working procedures.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Tampa Electric or another utility company.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND SCOPE OF WORK FOR THE 3 DIFFERENT LEVELS:

(E1) Engineer I (Minimum Experience Guideline: 18 Months, 12 Months with FE)

Performs routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks; receives close supervision on new aspects of non-routine assignments; using prescribed methods, performs specic and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer; may have minor responsibility for training, orientation or assigning of work to other employees; may schedule/coordinate projects with supervision and review; prepare engineering analyses, write specications and reports as directed.

(E2) Engineer II (Minimum Experience Guideline: 4 Years)

Qualications for this level shall include sustained demonstrated sound knowledge in a functional work area with an expected or higher degree of performance. Candidate should have demonstrated knowledge of policies and work procedures within the Company. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modications; may have signicant role in training, orientation, assigning work or supervising other employees; may receive assistance and/or guidance on unusual problems; may have limited authority for performing work on an individual basis with quasi- supervisory responsibility over other employees as may be assigned; may prepare engineering analyses, specications and reports on an independent basis.

(E3) Senior Engineer (Minimum Experience Guideline: 8 Years)

Candidates for this classication must have demonstrated above expected performance in the Engineer II classication and sound knowledge of functional area of work and advanced engineering concepts and their interactions and relationships to total Company operation. Approval by the business unit Vice President is required.

Engineers in this classication may serve in one or both of the following types of roles:

a. In a Leadership Capacity: Must be able to direct others; may have full responsibility for supervising, training, orientation, or the assignment of work to other employees; may have broad authority and responsibility for projects or personnel as may be assigned; may prepare and/or approve independent engineering analyses, specications, and reports; shall have the ability to establish and implement ecient work procedures and practices.

b. In a Research or Consultant Capacity: Candidate generally required to have an advanced degree or have individual researcher or sta specialist responsibilities; carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures; may be called on to conduct, coordinate and supervise complex engineering studies and reports such as those required by specialized governmental agencies; must be able to coordinate activities of outside consultants on complex projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Involves interaction with customers and internal personal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
Physical demands require working in field conditions, energized areas, walking in rough terrain, lifting objects up to 50 lbs., and wearing Fire Resistant (FR) clothing during and Personal Protective Equipment in an 8-hour day.

Must successfully complete the followingbaseline workermedical exam: ED Baseline
Valid Florida State driver's license and safe driving record.
