Clerical Assistant (Child Support)


Hourly Pay Rate: $15.75 to $23.63



Closing Date: November 06, 2025, or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions.


Job Summary: The Clerical Assistant will provide essential administrative and clerical duties at the direction of the Office Manager. This position is responsible for reception duties, supply and device management, backup to mailroom personnel and other duties as assigned.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Assist Office Manager with any and all reception duties to include answering phones, emails, checking eFax, answering in person questions for internal and external customers directing calls to relevant units for assistance, filing paperwork, placing work orders and escorting guests within the department. Update Child Support Services (CSS) Notebook, update authorized access list monthly or more frequently as needed, create monthly newsletter, and update BCS Directory as changes within the department occur. Assist with event planning set up and take down.
  • Replenish and restock office supplies, maintain forms and envelopes, maintain printers, scanners, fax machines, maintain and update printer usage Excel sheets, BCS online directory and update as needed, phone list, cell phone list and cubicle maps.
  • Acts as backup to mailroom personnel, duties include date stamp, open, sort and deliver incoming mail to appropriate units or staff members. Process high volume daily outbound mail including time sensitive legal docs and correspondence. Perform mail runs 3 times per day to pick up and deliver mail to units.
  • Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned.


Minimum Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin
  • At least one-year of full-time office clerical experience in a professional office setting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Word Processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets (e.g., MS Office)



Required Skills and Abilities:


Team player with the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with both co-workers and external contacts and the ability to work with Diverse populations. The ability to assist internal and external customers who may be emotional. Must possess oral and written communication skills. Time management and problem-solving abilities. Frequent contact with employees across other departments and external entities to gather factual information of a confidential manner. The ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, routine reports, forms and correspondences.
