POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State currently seeks an Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Programs in support of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR), you can play an integral role in Penn State's future by contributing to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting directly to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations for the Nese College of Nursing and working closely with academic leaders, volunteer partners, student groups, the College's finance and marketing offices, and others, the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Programs:

  • Organizes and manages operations of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing Alumni Society Board, providing professional guidance and leadership to board volunteers, and participating in strategic and long-range planning for initiatives and programs designed to enhance alumni relations for the college
  • Identifies, recruits, leads, coaches, and supervises alumni and student volunteers for participation in alumni programs, events, meetings and for service on the board and board committees; plans and coordinates the nomination and selection process for various alumni awards
  • Drives the planning, implementation, management, wrap-up, and assessment of alumni programming and events, including the alumni and student mentoring program; annual alumni tailgate; annual alumni and college awards celebration; alumni and student professional development programs; and regional alumni events
  • Identifies and provides leadership for the awarding of all Nese College of Nursing's scholarship and student hardship funds; organizes student data according to fund guideline agreements; collaborates with key Nese College of Nursing academic leaders and Dean-appointed awarding committees in assuring proper use of scarce resources to support student success
  • Collaborates with the Nese College of Nursing Marketing and Creative Services Team and/or external designers and printers to drive the design and production of outreach materials geared towards alumni and friends, including event invitations, e-newsletters, and other collateral for emails and websites
  • Drafts budgets for approval, and tracks expenses for all the above
  • Serves as the College's key liaison to the Penn State Alumni Association and to Penn State's alumni relations community, identifying points of collaboration and sharing expertise and ideas

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience and affinity with alumni and/or student engagement, and establishing and nurturing relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Exceptional organization skills including the ability to create and follow timelines, and to keep multiple initiatives moving forward in timely fashion
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills and enthusiasm for crafting internal and external communications and meeting materials
  • A proven ability to be self-motivated and to work both independently and as a member of an integrated team; capacity and desire to be integrated into the Nese College of Nursing community
  • Respect for handling confidential information
  • Ability to travel to regional meetings and/or events approximately two times per year
  • A commitment to professional development and being mentored

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $81,500.00.
