A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. AIS is looking for a FEA Fortran Engineer.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Develop and test engineering applications for ships and offshore structures
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze requirements and create modularized software code
  • Ensure the development and unit testing in accordance with established standards
  • Participate in reviews of solution designs and related codes
  • Analyze and resolve technical and application problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Package and support deployment of releases
  • Provide technical support for internal and external users



Compensation: Candidates will be paid an hourly rate to be negotiated and total compensation will vary depending on candidates' depth of experience. This is a full-time position. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Completion of an engineering curriculum from a university (B.S. or above); Majoring in Marine and Offshore Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent is preferred
  • Relevant engineering experience in a classification society, shipyard, marine or offshore design/consulting office, CAD or engineering software company, software development company, or research institution is a plus
  • Familiar with coding in FORTRAN
  • Ability to use .NET/C# or equivalent and Visual Studio 2019+
  • Experience with ship or offshore structural analysis and finite element method
