Overview

As a part-time instructor you will create course curriculum and provide instruction as a member of the General Education and Transfer Pathways Division teaching Mathematics courses. Instructors need to lead courses that engage and prepare students for careers in their area of study or transfer to a 4-year program.



Responsibilities

    Provide instruction for assigned classes.
  1. Remain current with industry needs and assure course outcomes that meet the workplace expectations and higher education standards.
  2. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  3. Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
  4. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
  5. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
  6. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
  7. Meet the WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements
  8. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
  9. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
  10. Support student success by clearly communicating course expectations, answering student questions and providing relevant learning resources to the students.
  11. Conduct curriculum projects to create course materials in BTCs online learning management system (Blackboard) that adhere to best instructional practices.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  1. Master's degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credits in Mathematics.

Blackhawk Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
