Job Summary: The Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) program, part of the Office of Student Transition and Family Engagement (OSTFE), includes both in-person and virtual components designed to engage every new undergraduate student. This program facilitates their introduction to campus life, academic advising, and course enrollment. The Orientation Specialist is responsible for developing the content of the program, coordinating with campus partners, supervising student leaders, and assessing the program's effectiveness in collaboration with the OSTFE team and other key campus partners. In this role, the Orientation Specialist will focus on enhancing the SOAR experience for new students and their families. This position will involve working with campus partners to create a comprehensive schedule for the SOAR program. Responsibilities include reserving spaces, developing the schedule, curating content for presentations, and crafting scripts. Additionally, the Orientation Specialist will oversee a team of 20 to 30 student staff members throughout the year, with the majority of them working during the summer.Key Job Responsibilities:

As campus leaders in student transition and family engagement, we facilitate this work through a long-term inclusive strategy of intentional programming, ongoing communications and outreach, and collaboration with campus partners. OSTFE is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, student success and belonging, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide belonging-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.Compensation: The expected minimum starting salary for this position is $54,000.00 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
