Description

BlueHalo, an AV Company, is seeking a Fermentation Laboratory Technician as a member of the Biological & Nano Scale Team in Dayton, Ohio. This position will work closely with the Technical Lead to support biomanufacturing activities, related process development, and other activities using same or similar laboratory or industrial equipment.

This work will contribute to the development of processes for biomanufacturing and produce biologically derived components of commercial and military value. Applicants should have some comfortability working in chemical/biological laboratory settings and industrial or manufacturing spaces.

Work will primarily occur M-F during regular business hours, but some weekend and evening work will be required.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • General Laboratory Support/Housekeeping
  • Maintenance and Operation of Fermenters and Associated Systems
  • Solution and Media Preparation
  • Use of Laboratory Analyzers/Instrumentation
  • Aseptic Operations for BSL-1 Organisms
  • Documentation of Operations and Lab Activities
  • Performing Laboratory Tasks as Assigned
  • Operation of High-Energy Equipment
  • Following Employee Health and Safety Requirements


Required Qualifications:



  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship
  • B.S. in a Life Sciences or Related Engineering Field OR Two (2) Years Experience Working in a Chemical/Biological Research Laboratory
  • Ability to Follow Written and Verbal Instructions
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to Learn New Systems, Equipment, and Techniques
  • Execute Tasks Independently
  • Strong Time Management Skills


Desired Qualifications:



  • Four (4) Years Experience Working in a Chemical/Biological Research Laboratory OR Two (2) Years Experience Working in an Industrial/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Environment
  • Experience Using Laboratory/Pilot Scale Fermentation Equipment
  • Experience with Process Equipment with Integrated Control Systems
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Products, Particularly Excel, for Graphing, Data Manipulation/Analysis, etc.


Working Conditions:



  • Most tasks will occur within a laboratory environment
  • Working with or around hazards: chemical (e.g., oxidizers, caustics, acids and bases), physical (high pressure/high temperature), and electrical (high voltage/wattage)
  • Lifting of 50LBS or less
  • Ability to comfortably stand, sit, or kneel (with a pad) for reasonable periods of time
