Family Services Supervisor

FAMILY SERVICES SUPERVISOR - Youth Justice Unit

The Washington County Human Services Department, located in West Bend, WI, has an excellent opportunity as a full-time Family Services Supervisor within the Children & Families Division. The Family Services Supervisor provides professional leadership, supervision, and administrative oversight of the Youth Justice Ongoing Unit. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services that align with agency policies, professional standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
This position includes case consultation, coordination, training, staff development, and program design. The supervisor must have the ability to assess information and make decisions in crisis situations while managing risk for the Department and the community. This position is required to be on-call after hours on a rotating schedule (approximately every 4-5 weeks).

Qualified candidates must possess:
Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university and three years of social work experience in the public sector preferred. Priority to candidates who have experience working with children and families in the capacity of child welfare, youth justice or child protective services. Advanced Practice Certification is required within 6 months of the hire date.

A valid Wisconsin driver's license, available automobile, and automobile insurance are required.

Salary & Benefits:
Starting salary $82,78.009--$94, 379.99, based on experience. Position Summary:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
*Orients, trains, and evaluates social work staff; assigns and reviews cases; and provides daily clinical consultation and guidance. Develops, implements, and evaluates staff development and training programs to enhance professional knowledge, skills, and performance.

*Reviews and approves case records, assessments, treatment plans, and recommendations to ensure quality and compliance with standards. Assists staff in maintaining professional and ethical practice. Participates in program planning, administration, service delivery, and evaluation across multiple agency programs.

*Interprets and implements Federal, State, and County regulations. Contributes to the development and revision of agency policies and procedures to promote effective and efficient service delivery. Represents the agency in state and local meetings, providing feedback on legislative or program initiatives.

*Serves as agency representative to community groups and partner organizations. Provides consultation, education, and coordination of services with external service providers to support comprehensive service delivery.

*Monitors program activities and budget expenditures, prepares statistical and narrative reports when required and ensures data accuracy and timeliness of required documentation.

*Participates in after-hours on-call rotation to respond to crisis situations, conduct assessments, and take actions necessary to ensure child and community safety.

Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Chapter 938 Juvenile Justice Code and Wisconsin Youth Justice Standards. Knowledge of Chapter 48 Children's Code and Wisconsin State CPS Standards for Access, Ongoing Services and Safety Intervention

Understanding of child development, childhood trauma, family systems, mental health and alcohol or drug addiction, knowledge of current social and economic problems and the way in which these issues affect families. Ability to manage staff, resolve conflicts, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and interact effectively with coworkers, community organizations and the general public.

Exceptional telephone, communication and computer skills are essential to this position. Ability to multi-task completing several functions at the same time that coincide with one another. Ability to prioritize competing tasks in a rapid fashion. Ability to think critically and problem-solve in crisis situations and de-escalate conflictual situations. Work environment can be hostile, fast paced and at times highly volatile.

Ability to fulfill physical demands of job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing) and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization).
